Seattle’s Tomb Raider Experience: Escape from the Temple of Fire was an official, live-action puzzle adventure with Lara Croft—not a virtual-reality attraction. It opened on November 16, 2024, but the official site now says the experience is closed, so it is no longer available to book.
What was the Tomb Raider Experience in Seattle?
Created by Crystal Dynamics and Tomb Raider in collaboration with Hourglass Attractions, Escape from the Temple of Fire put visitors inside a story set beneath a Chilean volcano. Players followed clues and solved puzzles alongside Lara Croft while pursued by Natla Technologies and a fiery creature. The franchise’s November 11, 2024 opening announcement described six themed rooms and live actors.

Is it still open?
No. The official Seattle homepage displays a closure notice and says, “Sorry you missed us.” It directs visitors to contact Fever for more information. The former ticket and visitor information should therefore be treated as historical, not as current booking terms.

How did the experience work?
This was a guided, physical adventure through themed rooms, with live actors and puzzles—not a VR game or a screen-based play session. The operator’s FAQ said a visit typically took about 90 minutes and involved climbing and crawling. It described the indoor venue as air-conditioned and recommended comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes.
The official opening announcement said groups could include up to 10 players, with time slots available every 20–40 minutes. That session capacity is distinct from a separate group-event claim of up to 30 people per hour; it does not mean 30 people played together in one session.

How it differed from a video game or a conventional escape room
The clearest distinction was the format: a shared, guided adventure in physical rooms, involving live actors and movement through a staged story. It drew on Tomb Raider’s exploration-and-puzzle premise, but the official materials do not establish how difficult it was, how it compared in value with other attractions, or whether visitors generally enjoyed it. No attendance, satisfaction, or economic-impact statistics were published in the cited official materials.
