Slurs.tf was reported as a searchable tracker tied to Team Fortress 2 competitive match logs. It grouped detected language into categories and included player rankings, but its records were not a complete account of what players said—and a ranking was not proof that someone was a bigot.
What was Slurs.tf?
In a Sept. 30, 2025 report, Slurs.tf was described as a third-party site where visitors could search for a Team Fortress 2 player and see language detected in match logs. The report said results were grouped into racial, bigotry, and generic categories, with leaderboard features that ranked players. Dexerto’s report also said some users bragged about their positions.
That describes what the site was reported to do; it does not establish that its categories were independently validated or that every entry was accurate. The tracker’s creator, posting as labricecat, said the project was a database challenge made for fun and acknowledged that its list of terms was not comprehensive. In a TeamFortress.TV post, the creator wrote: “I did not mean to act like i am doing something of importance. This website was made because I had fun doing database work, nothing more.”
What do the reported numbers mean?
A creator-linked list of the 100 most-looked-up players recorded 39,573 lookups over a period labeled “1 week.” The list gives its stop time as “18.09.2025 – 11:17 CET.” Those figures describe lookups of the list or profiles, not unique visitors, confirmed slur use, or the number of people identified as bigots. The creator-linked list is a historical record, not proof of the site’s present availability.
#1 Best Overall
There is no independently validated statistic in the cited reporting for how prevalent slur use was across Team Fortress 2. A leaderboard’s position or a detected-word count cannot be converted into a prevalence estimate.
Why did the rankings draw concern?
A searchable record can make reported language easier to find, but a leaderboard changes how that information is presented: it puts players in competition for a position. The Sept. 30 report described users bragging about rankings and raised concern that the design could turn offensive language into a contest. That is a concern about incentives, not evidence that Slurs.tf caused more abuse; the cited reporting offers no causal study.

Individual profiles, category labels, and rankings also invite readers to draw conclusions the data cannot support. A flag shows that the tracker detected a term in the material it processed. By itself, it does not establish a player’s beliefs, intent, identity, or the context in which the term appeared.
What were the tracker’s data limits?
The creator said the word list was not intended to be comprehensive, so the tool could not capture every relevant term. The creator’s discussion also mentioned fabricated logs and a whitelist for new uploads. Those points indicate potential data-quality constraints; they do not show that every record was false or that every record was checked. The creator’s first-week discussion provides the creator’s account of the project and its limitations, rather than an independent audit.

More broadly, the tracker covered a defined source of match logs, not everything a player may have said in or around the game. Its detections should be understood as results from that dataset and its term list—not as a complete transcript or definitive judgment about a person.

The creator-linked list records a stop time of Sept. 18, 2025, at 11:17 CET. That establishes a historical endpoint for the list; it does not establish whether the website was live, maintained, or restored on Oct. 8, 2026. A contemporaneous community thread asked, “Is there an archive for slurs.tf,” but the question itself does not verify the site’s current status.
