What does the leaked Perfect Dark footage reportedly show?
VGC reported on October 7, 2026, that short clips said to come from the cancelled reboot had surfaced online. Its account describes weapons and locations, an apparent escape sequence, hacking, and visual-effects tests. VGC said MP1st first reported the footage and attributed it to a VFX artist who worked on the project. The provenance is therefore reported second-hand in VGC’s account, rather than independently verified there.

The clips are described as in-development material, not an official Xbox release or footage of a finished game. The reviewed report also does not substantiate the claim that the footage shows a fruit being executed. That detail should not be treated as confirmed.
Does the footage show parkour?
Not conclusively, based on VGC’s description. It identifies an apparent escape sequence, but does not establish that the sequence uses parkour or is “parkour-heavy.” Parkour was part of the reboot’s announced design, which is a separate claim from what can be verified about these particular clips.

What was the cancelled reboot supposed to be?
In a June 9, 2024, preview, Xbox Wire described the project as a “first-person secret agent thriller in a near-future world.” The planned single-player game followed Joanna Dark in near-future Cairo, where environmental catastrophe and a corporate ecological-restoration effort shaped the setting. Her mission was to find and apprehend Daniel Carrington.
Xbox’s announcement presented parkour alongside gadgets, stealth, melee and gunplay, and said players could choose how to complete objectives. Those details describe the intended design at the time of the reveal; they do not confirm that each feature was completed or appears in the reported clips. Was the Perfect Dark reboot cancelled?
Yes. Game Developer reported on July 2, 2025, that Xbox had cancelled the reboot and closed The Initiative, citing an employee email from Xbox Game Studios head Matt Booty and its own confirmation of the studio closure. In the report, Booty’s stated rationale included a need to “adjust priorities and focus resources to set up our teams for greater success within a changing industry landscape.” Game Developer’s report covers the cancellation and closure.

The reported clips are described as in-development footage, which suggests material from work underway, but the available account does not establish how playable or complete the game was. It does not show that the reboot was finished, ready for release, or representative of a final build. Treat any conclusions about its overall state as uncertain unless supported by further authenticated evidence.
