The images reported online in December 2024 were interpreted as pointing to a military shooter, but neither the images’ final-game relevance nor that description was confirmed by Bend or Sony.
What Bend Studio officially said about its next game
In June 2022, Bend Studio announced that it was working on a new intellectual property with multiplayer, built on the open-world systems of Days Gone and set in a new world. The studio did not name the project or describe it as a live-service game in that post. Bend Studio’s June 2022 announcement is the clearest official description of the project at that point.

What the December 2024 images appeared to show
On December 12, 2024, Insider Gaming reported that images from a portfolio attributed by MP1st to an undisclosed Bend Studio UI designer had surfaced online. Insider Gaming said the portfolio had been uploaded to Google Drive in 2023; the images’ creation dates were unclear. Insider Gaming’s report attributed the portfolio account to MP1st and described the limits of what could be inferred from it.
A military-shooter interpretation, not a confirmed description
Insider Gaming interpreted the images as suggesting a live-service military shooter. It also said one image appeared to show a central hub, while cautioning that it could have been a design test and that the full context was unknown. Those are interpretations of incomplete material—not an official genre, feature list, or description of the finished game.

The images did not establish a final game design
The reported portfolio material did not confirm that the images represented a final or approved version of the game. Their creation dates were not established, and the public reporting did not supply enough context to determine how closely the concepts matched the project that Sony later called a live-service concept.
Insider Gaming also reported that PlayStation issued a DMCA notice to MP1st and that Insider Gaming subsequently removed the images. The images’ removal does not make their interpretation an official confirmation.

Was Bend Studio’s live-service project canceled?
Yes. Bloomberg reported on January 16, 2025, that Sony had canceled previously unannounced live-service projects at Bend and Bluepoint. Bloomberg’s report covered the cancellations.
In a statement quoted by GameSpot on June 10, 2025, Sony said: “Earlier this year, Bend Studio wrapped development on a live-service concept.” Sony added: “After careful consideration, we chose not to move forward with it.” GameSpot’s report quoted the statement and said Bend was shifting its focus to an unnamed next project.

What is known about the layoffs and Bend’s next project
GameSpot reported that about 30% of Bend Studio staff were laid off, citing Sony’s confirmation of layoffs. It also cited Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier’s report that approximately 40 people were affected. Those are reported workforce-reduction figures; Sony’s quoted statement did not specify a percentage or headcount, and the figures do not establish the size of the canceled project team.
Sony said Bend was shifting its focus to an unnamed next project. The announcement did not identify that project, and the available statements do not establish whether it has since been named or described publicly. The canceled live-service concept should not be treated as Bend’s current project.
