Neither is an official Sony PC release, and neither promises a flawless experience.
Is there an official Bloodborne PC version?
No PC edition appears in the U.S. PlayStation Store listing reviewed here. Sony lists Bloodborne as a PS4 game published by Sony Interactive Entertainment and released on March 24, 2015; the listing also says it is playable on PS5, with possible feature differences. The PlayStation Store listing is the relevant official platform reference, not evidence of a PC product.

Accordingly, “Bloodborne PC port” is commonly used for community-run compatibility work, rather than a conventional PC edition released by Sony or FromSoftware. The documented projects take different technical approaches.
What are the PC projects, and how do they work?
shadPS4: a general-purpose PS4 emulator
shadPS4 is an early-stage PS4 emulator for Windows, Linux, and macOS. Its README says it can run Bloodborne, but cautions users not to expect a flawless experience. The emulator aims to reproduce console functions in a general-purpose environment so PS4 games can run on supported computer systems. The shadPS4 project README links to releases and action builds.

The project website lists version 0.19.0 as released on October 1, 2026. That date shows continuing project activity; it does not establish a particular level of Bloodborne compatibility, stability, or frame rate. The shadPS4 project website is the place to check its current release information.
bbport: a Bloodborne-specific experimental project
bbport targets Bloodborne version 1.09 rather than serving as a general PS4 emulator. Its project documentation describes a converted game executable, a small runtime implementing the PS4 functions the game uses, and a graphics core derived from shadPS4. In practical terms, it is a tailored compatibility and translation effort—not a conventional native PC port. The project labels its status “experimental, playable,” which should not be read as a guarantee of a complete or trouble-free playthrough. The distinction readers can rely on is scope—broad PS4 emulation for shadPS4 versus a version-specific, game-focused project for bbport—along with their stated maturity.

A controller is optional. shadPS4 documentation says Xbox and DualShock controllers work out of the box, and it also lists keyboard mappings. It does not identify a controller as a performance requirement. See shadPS4’s controller and keyboard documentation.
