A Fortnite lobby countdown does not automatically mean the season is ending. It may point to a scheduled Power Hour, a story moment, another activity, or the season deadline. Read the text beside the timer, then verify it against the matching Epic Games announcement or Battle Pass information.
How to tell what the lobby countdown is tracking
Start with the countdown’s label and any event text shown beside it. Its location in the lobby is not enough to identify what it counts down to. A timer naming Power Hour is about that scheduled event; a timer presented with season or Battle Pass information may refer to the season deadline. Other labels can identify a different limited-time activity.
Epic’s announcements are the best confirmation for a named event. Check the date, time zone, mode, and any participation instructions in the announcement rather than assuming every lobby timer has the same meaning or effect.
What Power Hour means
Power Hour is a scheduled Fortnite event, not a universal daily start time or a fixed package of gameplay changes. Epic’s schedule for the Runners season describes Sprite events every Saturday, with Power Hours at 3:30 PM and 9:30 PM ET. Epic also says the Sprites and modifiers change weekly, so those times and details apply to that season-specific schedule—not to Fortnite permanently.

- GILDED TROOPER: Board the Battle Bus and drop in with Fortnite Legendary Skull Trooper (Gilded)!
- FORTNITE: 6-inch action figure is inspired by the video game Fortnite
- ARTICULATED: Feature 28 points of articulation to win any Battle Royale
- ACCESSORIES: Comes equipped with Back Bling and Harvesting Tools
- BONUS CODE: Code for virtual item included: Mecha-jolly
Event effects can also differ from one announcement to another. In one Epic announcement, a story moment was paired with a Power Hour and included Supercharged XP, starting equipment, a Gold Rush rift anomaly, glider redeploy, altered Storm behavior, and more Legendary POIs. Those were features of that particular event, not a standard Power Hour checklist.
For the Runners schedule and its stated time zone, see Epic’s Sprite Squads announcement. For the specific story moment and Power Hour example, see Epic’s Fortnite news page.
How to check whether the season is ending
Epic says the current season’s end date is shown on the Battle Pass webpage and in the game’s Battle Pass tab. Check one of those sources when you need the season deadline, and treat the date as subject to change.

The exact current season end date was not established by the official sources available for this article as of October 4, 2026. Do not use March 19, 2026 as the current deadline: it was reported as the end date for the previous season, Chapter 7 Season 1, in a February 2026 article. Epic’s October 1, 2026 Fortnitemares news does not itself establish the Battle Royale season’s end date.
Epic’s guidance on season timing is available in its Battle Pass information. Its current news index is at Fortnite News.

- Read the attached wording. Do not assume a lobby timer is a season-end clock based on its appearance or position.
- For Power Hour or another event, find the matching Epic announcement. Confirm its date, stated time zone, mode, effects, and any participation instructions.
- For the season deadline, check the Battle Pass webpage or the in-game Battle Pass tab. Epic warns that season dates can change.
- Keep the time zone attached to the time. For example, the Runners schedule lists 3:30 PM and 9:30 PM ET; those are not automatically local times for every player.
Epic’s announcements do not establish that every countdown’s expiration ends a match or disables access. Follow the instructions for the particular event instead of assuming a universal timer behavior.
