The official gameplay overview describes the weapon as a way to “Unleash a barrage of bolts that snare your targets,” adding that dual-wielded crossbows maintain pressure and control from afar. That makes it a ranged pressure option rather than a single fixed setup: its performance also depends on the skills and weapon mastery choices in a character’s build.
How crossbow customization affects a build
Weapon mastery lets players select nodes that alter or empower skills, according to the official gameplay overview. When evaluating a crossbow setup, consider the skill and passive interactions alongside mastery and specialization choices, and check whether a skill’s effect text is aimed at PvE, PvP, or both. The available official material does not establish a best-performing setup for either mode.
Storm Current: a dated passive example
In the Update 4.0.0 notes, Storm Current is listed as the Crossbow passive. Under those notes, a basic attack hit with Crossbow or Longbow has a 30% chance to apply Gust for 6 seconds. Each hit on a target affected by Gust deals additional damage, and the explosion at 25 Gust stacks is amplified. These are the mechanics documented for Update 4.0.0, not a guarantee that every detail remains unchanged in a later live version.

One named crossbow: Reverse Scale Tracker’s Judgment Crossbows
The Update 4.5.0 notes, dated July 29, 2026, give one equipment example: Reverse Scale Tracker’s Judgment Crossbows. The update lists Dexterity 17, Perception 12, Bonus Damage 69, and Critical Damage +9.2%.
The weapon’s listed skill, Atirat’s Flame, changes Wild Barrage into an instant-cast skill with a 60-degree cone attack range. On hit, it has an 80% chance to apply a 9-second Weaken effect. The effect deals defense-ignoring damage equal to 30% of Base Damage plus 6 damage per second, and reduces all CC Resistances by 20, stacking up to 25 times. These stats and effects belong to this specific Update 4.5.0 item entry; they are not a catalog of all crossbows.

What later patch notes show about crossbow changes
Update notes can change how a weapon interacts with opponents and defenses. In Update 4.7.0, the Crossbow Skill Core for Will of Fonsiné was changed so its PvP damage-reduction effect applies globally rather than only to specified skills. The same update fixed Blade Storm so its damage and Weaken effects would not bypass Defense skills. These are documented patch changes, not a complete specification of either skill.
Earlier, Update 3.17.0 included changes or fixes involving Nature’s Power, Piercing Strike, Nimble Leap, Explosive Trap, Recoil Shot, Mother Nature’s Protest, and Mortal Mark. That history illustrates why older skill values should not be treated as current without checking the relevant live-game notes.
