A November 2024 report linked a Rockstar graphics-related hiring post to claims about Grand Theft Auto VI’s engine and rendering goals. Those details were reported secondhand, not published as an official game specification. Since then, Trailer 2 has been released: Take-Two says its footage was captured on PlayStation 5, but that does not confirm the retail game’s graphics settings or performance.
What did the GTA 6 graphics job listing reveal?
HotHardware’s November 27, 2024 story said an edited LinkedIn post by Ryan Woods, described in the article as a Rockstar principal engine programmer, contained graphics-related details about GTA VI. The report’s account relied on a screenshot shared by a Reddit user; it also said the LinkedIn post was later edited to remove the details. HotHardware’s article is therefore the available source for what the post reportedly said, rather than a complete, directly verifiable copy of the original post. Read HotHardware’s report.
According to HotHardware, the post identified Rockstar’s RAGE engine and described an aim to “push the limits of real-time rendering and processing.” These are claims attributed to the post by the outlet; they should not be read as a complete or official Rockstar specification for the finished game.
Does the report confirm ray tracing or procedural generation?
No. HotHardware discussed ray-traced global illumination and procedural generation in its interpretation of the screenshot, but the available official announcement does not confirm either as a feature shipping in GTA VI. The report supports describing these as topics associated with its interpretation—not as confirmed graphics options or capabilities.

Has GTA 6 Trailer 2 been released, and was it captured on PS5?
Yes. Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar released Trailer 2 on May 6, 2025, after the November 2024 job-listing story. The official announcement states: “All trailer footage was captured on PlayStation 5.” Read the announcement.
That statement identifies the platform used to capture the trailer footage. It does not specify the final game’s resolution, frame rate, graphics settings, or performance on a retail console. The sources do not establish confirmed graphics modes or performance options, so the trailer cannot support a comparison of PS5 and Xbox Series X|S performance.

What platforms and release details has Take-Two announced?
In an announcement dated June 24, 2026, Take-Two listed PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and a November 19, 2026 launch. The announcement also described a physical version available starting November 12, with a download code inside the box.
