Press it during a GameChat session to open the C Menu, where you can manage chat controls and settings. Nintendo had publicly described the button’s purpose, so the available evidence does not support framing its function as a newly leaked discovery.
What does the C Button do?
The C Button gives you quick access to GameChat, Nintendo’s communication feature for Switch 2. Nintendo developer interviews describe it as the button for using GameChat; when you are already in a GameChat room, pressing C opens the C Menu. Nintendo’s Ask the Developer interview explains the button’s purpose, and Nintendo Support’s GameChat guide describes the in-session menu.

What can you do in GameChat?
GameChat supports voice chat, video chat, screen sharing, and playing games together. The C Menu provides controls for microphone, camera, and screen sharing, along with GameChat settings. For details on the available controls, see Nintendo’s guide to changing GameChat settings using the C Menu.
Do you need a camera to use the C Button?
No camera is needed for the button’s basic GameChat access or voice chat: Switch 2 has a built-in microphone. Video chat, however, requires a compatible USB camera. Nintendo names its separately sold Nintendo Switch 2 Camera as one example, but cautions that not every USB camera works with the console. Check compatibility before buying a third-party camera; Nintendo’s general Switch 2 tips cover the microphone and camera requirements.

The “finally leaked” framing is not supported by the cited material as a newly revealed function. Nintendo had already explained the C Button in developer interviews. In one, Nintendo developer Kouichi Kawamoto said: “This is the button you press to use GameChat (18), one of the Nintendo Switch 2 system’s new features.” A separate Nintendo interview about GameChat also describes the C Button as a way to access the feature. Recent coverage of a GameChat prototype does not establish a newly leaked purpose for the button.
