What did the Switch 2 interview reportedly reveal?
On September 27, 2024, BGR reported on Spanish gaming site Vandal’s interview with Ruben Mercado, CEO of video-game accessory and peripheral maker Blade. BGR said Vandal had discussed the interview on its weekly podcast and summarized it in a blog post. BGR’s account paraphrased Mercado; it did not provide a direct transcript or verbatim quotes, and BGR said it could not verify his claims at the time.

According to BGR’s report, Mercado said:
- Nintendo had finished the console’s design and accessory makers had seen a near-final version.
- A launch was likely in March or April 2025.
- The new Joy-Con controllers attached magnetically and had a locking system to keep them in place.
- The changed controller design meant joystick covers would not fit.
- Nintendo wanted to launch worldwide at the same time.
- The console would cost between €400 and €500.
Those points should be read as claims attributed to Mercado by a secondary report, not as Nintendo specifications. In particular, later confirmation of magnetic attachment does not verify the reported locking mechanism or the rest of the interview’s predictions.
Which claims did Nintendo later confirm?
Nintendo’s April 2, 2025 launch announcement confirmed that Joy-Con 2 controllers attach to Switch 2 with magnetic connectors. It also said either controller can work as a mouse in compatible games. These official details overlap with part of Mercado’s reported account, but Nintendo did not confirm the specific locking-system description in the cited announcement.

Nintendo’s official product information identifies the Joy-Con 2 set as including one left controller, one right controller, and two straps; it is for use with Switch 2. Nintendo’s specifications also list mouse sensors in both controllers.

What are Switch 2’s official hardware details?
Nintendo’s technical specifications list a 7.9-inch LCD display with 1920 × 1080 resolution, 256 GB of internal storage, and Wi-Fi 6. Estimated console battery life is approximately 2–6.5 hours, depending on the game. Nintendo specifies support for microSD Express cards up to 2 TB for storage expansion. Older microSD cards can be used to copy screenshots and videos, but are not specified for game-storage expansion.
