Final Fantasy VII Rebirth released for PC on January 23, 2025, at approximately 11:00 p.m. Japan Standard Time (JST), or approximately 2:00 p.m. UTC that day. The announced time applied to the Steam and Epic Games Store versions; it was not a promise of a midnight-local-time unlock worldwide.
PC release date and time
Square Enix announced that the Steam and Epic Games Store editions were scheduled to launch at around 23:00 JST on Thursday, January 23, 2025. The publisher used an approximate time, so 11:00 p.m. is not an exact-to-the-minute unlock time. Square Enix’s December 13, 2024 announcement also said preorder customers could download the game in advance and play from around 23:00 on release day.
What time was that in UTC?
Japan Standard Time is UTC+9, so 23:00 JST converted to approximately 14:00 UTC on January 23, 2025. That is a time-zone conversion of Square Enix’s announced Japanese time, not a separate confirmation of a local release time in every region.
Confirmation that the PC version launched
Square Enix’s January 23, 2025 release-day notice confirmed that the PC versions were out on Steam and the Epic Games Store. Steam’s store listing likewise gives January 23, 2025 as the release date.
