Before creating a character, check what “server” means in that game, where your friends play, which region and community suit you, and whether population rules could block character creation or a later transfer. Server labels and policies differ by MMORPG, so verify the game’s official status and support pages just before you decide.
First, find out what “server” means in that game
MMORPGs use server terminology differently. The choice might be a regional data center, an individual realm or world, or a home-world identity that exists alongside shared play systems. Those labels can affect different things, so do not assume that a “server” in one game works like a “server” in another.
For example, ArenaNet explains that Guild Wars 2 assigns regional datacenters and also asks players to select a home world. Blizzard’s World of Warcraft status page, by contrast, lists individual realms and whether each is up or down. Read the game’s own explanation of its options before treating two similarly named choices as equivalent.
Check where your friends and guildmates play
Ask the people you want to play with which region and world they use, then check whether the game lets characters from different worlds join the activities that matter to you. Shared matchmaking does not necessarily mean shared guilds, markets, or competitive modes; those rules vary by game.

For a group, agree on the destination before anyone creates a character. If you are joining an existing guild, verify its world or region requirements directly rather than relying on an old recruitment post or a general assumption about cross-world play.
Compare region and connection fit
Check the game’s actual data-center regions and how it assigns or lets you choose among them. Distance and routing can affect responsiveness, but the relevant options depend on the title and your location. ArenaNet says a Guild Wars 2 account’s region designation helps connect players to an optimal datacenter; its support guidance also says players in North America and Europe can select worlds in either region. That flexibility is specific to Guild Wars 2, not a general MMORPG rule.
If the game offers multiple regions, consider both connection quality and where your friends play. A nearby region may be a poor practical choice if your group is elsewhere or the game restricts cross-region play.
Look at language and active play times
Check whether worlds have an official language designation, an established community language, or conventions that matter to you. Also consider when people are likely to be active: a community that peaks during your usual play hours may be more useful than a busier one that is quiet when you log in.

- Intel dual CPU sockets: This C612 server chip motherboard is designed with dual CPU sockets, which can support Intel Core i7 5th/6th generation processors and Xeon E5 V3/V4 series processors on LGA 2011-3 socket. (Note: If only one CPU is installed, please install it in the right slot, and the graphics card needs to be installed in the bottom two slots.)
- DDR4 4-channel memory slot: The memory slot of the LGA 2011-3 motherboard is designed with four channels, which can install 8 memory. It supports effective frequencies of 2133/2400MHz, and the maximum capacity is 256GB. (Non-ECC memory is not compatible when using E5 V4 series processors)
- PCIe 3.0 protocol standard: Equipped with 4 PCIe 3.0 X16 graphics card slots (with steel case). The transfer rate can reach 15.754 GB/s using one graphics card, and the performance can be improved by at least 50% by using two graphics cards. Equipped with dual M.2 hard disk slots, it can achieve fast reading even if multiple programs are running
- Stable power supply: use 24+8+8pin standard power supply interface (need to use a dedicated power supply for dual server motherboards), 12 (CPU) + 4 (memory) + 1 (C612 chip) phase power supply. Precise modularization provides good heat dissipation and makes the program run more stably
- Strong expandability: The X99 motherboard is equipped with multiple expansion interfaces to ensure that the motherboard has more room for improvement. These include 4*USB 3.0 ports, 4*USB 2.0 ports, 10*SATA 3.0 ports, 4*3pin sys fan, 2*4pin CPU fan. Besides, dual network ports allow your computer to do more things
In Guild Wars 2, ArenaNet says region does not limit access to its listed supported languages—English, French, German, and Spanish. Other MMORPGs may organize language or community differently, so confirm the policy for your game rather than generalizing from another title.
Check population, access, and character-creation limits
Population is not a universal quality score. A busy world may mean a larger visible community, but a game’s population caps or current status can also restrict character creation or transfers. Check the official page for current labels and restrictions, especially if a world is marked congested, full, or otherwise unavailable.
Square Enix’s FFXIV support guidance says: “Worlds that have reached their maximum population cap cannot be selected for Home World transfers.” It also directs players to check current Congested and Preferred World status. These are FFXIV-specific rules; another MMORPG may use different labels or limits.
Understand the transfer route before you commit
Before investing time in a character, look up whether transfers are available, which destinations accept them, and what fees, cooldowns, or other limits apply. Confirm whether the transfer moves the character, its social connections, or other game-specific details you care about; do not assume every part of an account follows automatically.

Transfer rules can change with population conditions. In FFXIV, for instance, a world at its maximum population cap cannot be selected for Home World transfers. Check the current official policy for your game and destination rather than treating a transfer as a guaranteed escape route.

Use the game’s official realm, world, or service-status page immediately before character creation. Blizzard’s World of Warcraft page lists available realms and whether they are up or down. That is useful operational information, but an online realm’s status alone does not tell you whether its population, community, or play rules fit your plans.
When comparing two or more viable choices, weigh the factors that matter for how you intend to play:
- Region and data center: Does the option suit your location and connection?
- Friends, guilds, and activities: Can you join the people and content you care about?
- Language and play hours: Is the community active when you play and in a language you prefer?
- Population and access: Are there queues, creation restrictions, or other current limits?
- Transfers: Can you move later, and do the destination, cost, and conditions work for you?
Use official game pages for current status and policy. Third-party population estimates can become stale, and a cross-game ranking cannot account for each title’s rules or your group’s needs.
