Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?

Explore the End’s outer islands, start a building project, pursue achievements, set a new challenge, or play with friends. The best next step is the one that fits what you enjoy.
What does “completed Minecraft” mean?
Minecraft describes itself as a sandbox game with no official end. Many players use defeating the Ender Dragon as their personal “beat the game” milestone, but it is only one way to define completion. The End Poem and credits follow the exit-portal sequence and mark the game’s narrative ending; they do not require you to abandon or restart your world. The End Poem was written by Irish poet Julian Gough. Minecraft’s Ender Dragon guide explains that sequence.

Choose what you want from your next session
There is no universal post-dragon route. Pick a goal based on whether you want discovery, a creative project, a checklist, a fresh challenge, or company.
| What you want | A goal to try |
|---|---|
| Exploration | Use a post-dragon gateway to reach the End’s outer islands and search for End Cities. |
| Building | Plan a base, village district, landscape transformation, or travel connection between distant places. |
| Measurable progress | Choose an achievement or advancement target, or work toward a collection you have not completed. |
| A different kind of play | Start a new world, impose a building restriction, try a harder survival run, or set a group objective. |
| Playing together | Make a shared build, exploration map, or community project with a clear goal. |
Explore beyond the Ender Dragon fight
After the dragon is defeated, a gateway can provide access to the End’s outer islands, where you can look for End Cities. The Minecraft Wiki’s End exploration tutorial describes this route. Exact mechanics and instructions can vary by edition or version, so check that your instructions match the Minecraft edition and update you play before attempting a specific portal method.

Turn the world you already have into a project
A finished boss fight can be a useful point to set a larger building or infrastructure goal. Instead of simply deciding to “build more,” choose a visible outcome you can make progress on over several sessions.
- Connect distant bases or landmarks with a route.
- Build a village district that gives the area a distinct purpose or look.
- Transform a landscape into a place you want to explore or live in.
- Plan a large base in stages, so each session has a manageable task.
Elytra and larger projects are examples players discuss in community threads, not evidence that one activity is what players generally do. Treat them as inspiration, not a required progression path.

Set a completionist target
If checklists motivate you, pick one specific achievement or advancement to pursue, or define a collection goal of your own. Minecraft’s overview notes achievements and trophies as rewards for completing challenges. Choose a target that suits your edition and platform; the available systems and criteria are not necessarily identical everywhere.
Make your own challenge
Because Minecraft does not prescribe a single finish line, you can make the next run harder or simply different. Try a fresh world, a survival run with a higher difficulty, a build made with restricted materials, or a shared objective with friends. These are player-defined ideas rather than official tasks.

Play with other people—or take a break
A collaborative goal works best when it is concrete enough for people to contribute in short sessions: build one shared landmark, map an area together, or finish a community project in stages. If your current world feels finished, pausing or starting a world with a new seed is just as valid as continuing. You do not need to keep playing to have completed your own version of Minecraft.

Minecraft says it releases new features several times a year as free game drops. That means content and mechanics can change; check the official Minecraft updates timeline and confirm your edition before relying on instructions tied to a particular update.
