Close the page and do not click its pop-ups, download or run files, enter account or payment details, or connect a crypto wallet. A site that will not load does not, by itself, prove that it is malicious—or that your device is infected. What matters most is what the page asked you to do and whether you did it.
What to do right now
- Stop interacting with the page. Don’t click “Play Now,” download, verification, notification, or login prompts, and don’t approve a wallet request.
- Close the tab. If it will not close normally, close the browser. Don’t revisit the site to test whether it works.
- Choose the response that matches what happened. Seeing a suspicious page is different from running a file, entering a password, or approving a wallet transaction.
GTA 6-themed scams have used copied Rockstar promotions and download offers to distribute an information stealer. Malwarebytes reported that an investigated installer targeted saved browser passwords, cookies, and authenticated sessions (Malwarebytes, August 24, 2026). A separate fake page used a countdown and game details alongside wallet-draining functionality (Malwarebytes, September 1, 2026).

Respond based on what you did
You only opened the page or saw pop-ups
Close it without clicking anything. Don’t accept notification prompts, download files, enter information, or follow “verify” steps. A loading failure or pop-up alone does not establish that malware reached your device.
You entered a Rockstar password or other credentials
- Using a device you believe is clean, change the exposed password. If you reused it on other accounts, change it there too.
- Review your Rockstar account for changed email details, unfamiliar device logins, and third-party connections. Report suspicious activity to Rockstar Support.
- Enable two-step verification. Rockstar advises users not to reuse their Rockstar password or share passwords and verification codes (Rockstar Games Customer Support, account-security guidance).
You downloaded and ran a file
Treat saved passwords and active browser sessions on that device as potentially exposed. Malwarebytes recommends scanning the affected computer with a trusted security product, then using a clean device to change important passwords, sign out of active sessions, check account settings and email forwarding rules, enable two-factor authentication, and watch for unusual account activity (Malwarebytes, August 24, 2026). A password change alone may not end every active session, so sign out sessions separately where the service offers that option.

You connected a crypto wallet or approved a request
Disconnect from the site and review the wallet permissions and transaction history. If you approved a transaction or ongoing permission, revoke the permission and check your assets across the wallet’s networks. A wallet connection alone is not the same as approving a transaction or permission. If you entered your recovery phrase on the site, Malwarebytes recommends moving remaining assets to a newly created wallet (Malwarebytes, September 1, 2026).

Copied logos, convincing artwork, accurate dates, search placement, or plausible game details do not prove that a third-party page is genuine. Malwarebytes documented fake pages that reused Rockstar promotional material. Rockstar’s account-security guidance says: “Don’t download software from third-party sources, including cracked games” (Rockstar Games Customer Support).
