Look for the receipt email, then open Account Details > View purchase history. If the purchase is complete, check that you’re using the buying account, make all games visible in your Library, inspect Hidden Games, and sign out of and back into the Steam Client. Check whether Steam completed the purchase
Search the email account associated with your Steam purchases for a receipt. Then sign in to the account you believe made the purchase and open Account Details > View purchase history. You can view purchase history on Steam’s website or in the client. Steam’s purchasing and billing FAQ
If there is no receipt, Steam says the purchase may still be pending. Check the transaction’s status in purchase history rather than assuming a bank notification means the game was delivered. A payment authorization or hold is not, by itself, proof that Steam completed the purchase.
If the purchase is pending or absent from your history
Use Steam Help’s Purchasing Issues flow and follow the issue that matches the transaction. If the transaction does not appear in the account you checked, verify that you are signed in to the account used to buy it before escalating.

If the purchase is complete, check the account and Library
A completed purchase can seem missing when you’re signed into a different Steam account or when the Library view hides the game. Confirm the account name, clear any Library filters that exclude games, and check the hidden-games list.
- In the Steam Client, select View > Hidden Games.
- If the game is there, right-click it, choose Manage, then select Remove from Hidden.

Refresh the Steam Client
After confirming the transaction is complete and checking the account and Library visibility, sign out of the Steam Client and sign back in. Steam specifically recommends this step for a completed purchase that is missing from the Library. Steam Support
Contact Steam Support about the transaction
If the game still does not appear, sign in to Steam Help, choose Purchases, open the relevant transaction, and select the issue that best describes what happened. Provide the account and transaction details Steam requests. Do not include your full card number, expiration date, or CVV in a support ticket; Steam’s Unrecognized Charges guidance warns against sharing those details.

When a bank shows a pending authorization
A failed purchase can leave a temporary authorization on your bank account. For the address/CVV hold scenario described by Steam, Steam says it declines the transaction and does not collect the held funds; the issuing bank controls when the authorization is released. Steam says that release can take up to 30 days depending on the bank. That timeframe applies to this described hold scenario, not every bank or payment issue. Steam’s Purchasing Issues guidance
If you no longer want the game, request a refund
Steam’s usual refund terms for games are a request within 14 days of purchase and less than two hours of playtime. Those conditions are the standard guideline, not a guarantee that every request will be approved. Steam also says you can submit a request outside its usual rules for review. Check these exceptions before treating it as a missing game
If it was a gift
Gift delivery has a separate flow: the recipient must accept the gift before it joins their Library. Check gift history and use Steam’s gift-specific support instructions if the purchase was a gift.
If you expected a different edition
Steam’s purchasing FAQ notes that the Store can sometimes display ownership of a special edition when the account owns the base game. Check purchase or activation history to verify which version is owned; a version mismatch is different from a missing transaction. Steam’s purchasing and billing FAQ
