Stop using the fake store, switch to a trusted device, change your PlayStation password immediately, and change it anywhere you reused it. Then secure the email account linked to PlayStation, sign out every PlayStation session, and check for unauthorized purchases. If you cannot sign in or your account details changed, use PlayStation’s official recovery and support channels rather than links or contact details from the store.
Do these first, in this order
- Stop interacting with the fake store. Close the page and do not return to it, reply to its messages, call its listed number, or use its “support” chat. A counterfeit page can ask for more information after capturing your login.
- Use a trusted device and a direct address. Open a device you control, preferably one that was not used to download unknown software, and navigate to PlayStation’s official Account Management or support site yourself. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) advises contacting a company through a website or phone number you already know is genuine, not through details in a suspicious message.
- Change the PlayStation password now. Do not wait to see whether anything happens. If that password was used for another service, change it there too, giving every account a different password.
- Secure the linked email account. Change the email password and review its security settings before relying on email-based PlayStation recovery.
- Sign out existing PlayStation sessions and inspect activity. If you can still sign in, use the all-device sign-out control and look for changed account details, unfamiliar devices, purchases, or subscriptions.
The exact menu names and support options can differ by country and may change. Use the PlayStation support site for your region when a label does not match what you see.

Work out which recovery situation you are in

Change your PlayStation password without giving the scammer more information
Go directly to PlayStation Account Management, sign in, and open the password or security settings. Create a new password that has not been used anywhere else. A password that was typed into a counterfeit page should be considered compromised even if the page displayed an error or never completed checkout.

- Do not use a variation of the exposed password, such as adding a number or changing one character.
- Do not disclose the new password to anyone claiming to be PlayStation support in a message, phone call, or chat.
- After changing it, change the same exposed password on every other account where it appeared. PlayStation warns that using one password across multiple accounts increases the damage if one account is compromised.
- Use a unique password for your email account; it must not match the PlayStation password.
If you are signed in on a console or phone, changing the password may require you to authenticate again. That is expected. Do not approve an unexpected sign-in prompt while you are working through the incident.

Secure the email address linked to your PlayStation account
Your email inbox is often the key to account recovery, so protect it before repeatedly trying to recover PlayStation. Change the email password from the provider’s genuine website or app. Turn on two-step verification or a passkey if the provider offers one, and inspect recovery addresses, phone numbers, forwarding rules, filters, and recent sign-ins for changes you did not make.
If you cannot enter the inbox, use the provider’s account-recovery process. Do not trust a “help” link supplied by the fake store. Once the email is secured, check it for password-reset messages, sign-in alerts, order confirmations, or messages deleted by an intruder. Keep copies of relevant dates and headers if you later need to show PlayStation or your bank what happened.
PlayStation’s compromised-account guidance places email security before PlayStation recovery because recovery messages may go to that inbox. If the attacker changed your PlayStation sign-in email, restoring email access still helps support verify that you are the account owner.

Sign out every PlayStation device and review security settings
If you can still access the account, open Account Management > Security > Sign Out on All Devices. This invalidates active PlayStation sessions that you do not recognize. You may need to sign in again on your own console, phone, or web browser afterward.
While in security settings, check the sign-in ID (email), online ID, phone number, two-step verification method, passkey settings, trusted devices, and any recovery information shown. Record unfamiliar changes before correcting them, but do not leave a suspicious session active while investigating. Remove or replace information you did not add, then review transaction history and subscriptions.
If you cannot sign in, skip repeated guesses. A large number of failed attempts can complicate recovery. Move to the official recovery process instead.

Recover an account that is locked or has changed details
Use PlayStation’s official account-recovery flow from a trusted device. The available route can depend on whether you still control the sign-in email and whether your account uses a password, passkey, or two-step verification.
- Open PlayStation Support by typing the regional address yourself or using a saved, known-good bookmark.
- Choose the account or sign-in problem option and follow the recovery instructions for your account type.
- Use the passkey or email recovery route offered by the service. Check spam and filtered folders in the secured inbox.
- If the sign-in ID, online ID, or password changed unexpectedly, or the automated process cannot verify you, contact PlayStation Support through its official page or Online Assistant.
- Provide the requested ownership information through the secure support channel. Do not send your password or one-time verification code to an unsolicited caller or message sender.
Support procedures differ by country, and a PlayStation Ireland sign-out page or another regional page may use different wording from the US site. Select your own country or region so the available contact method and account rules match your account.
Strengthen the account after you regain control
Once the password and recovery email are secure, add a stronger sign-in method in PlayStation account security settings. PlayStation supports passkeys and two-step verification where available. A passkey uses your device’s screen lock or biometric check; two-step verification adds a code or authenticator step after the password.

- Choose the method you can reliably access and keep its recovery options current.
- Store backup codes offline in a secure location if PlayStation provides them.
- Never share a verification code with a person who contacts you first. The FTC notes that requiring two or more credentials makes it harder for a scammer to enter an account even after obtaining a username and password.
- Approve sign-in prompts only when you initiated the sign-in. An unexpected prompt can be an attacker trying to use the stolen password.
- Review connected services and remove access you do not recognize.
A password manager can help generate and remember unique passwords, but buying one is not required to contain this incident. The immediate remedy is changing exposed credentials and securing recovery channels.

Open PlayStation transaction history and subscription management and compare them with your own records. Look for purchases, wallet top-ups, subscription changes, gift redemptions, or payment methods you did not authorize. Save order numbers, dates, amounts, and screenshots before disputing anything.
If you entered a card number, security code, bank details, or billing address on the fake store, contact the card issuer or bank using the number on the physical card, a statement, or the institution’s official app. Explain that the details were entered on a phishing site and ask whether the card should be blocked or replaced. Monitor statements and alerts for additional attempts. For an unauthorized PlayStation charge, follow both the issuer’s dispute process and PlayStation’s official transaction-support process; do not let an unfamiliar caller “refund” you by requesting remote access or a verification code.

Changing the PlayStation password does not cancel a compromised card. Financial review is a separate step whenever payment information was entered or an unfamiliar charge appears.
Report the fake store safely
After your accounts and money are protected, report the site so others can be warned. Do not revisit it to test whether it is still online, and do not upload additional personal information to a reporting form hosted on the same domain.
- United States: report the phishing incident to the FTC at ReportFraud.gov. The FTC also lists
[email protected]for forwarding phishing email. - Elsewhere: use your country’s official consumer-protection, cybercrime, or police reporting channel. PlayStation support can tell you how to report impersonation affecting its services in your region.
Include the fake store’s address, the date and time, screenshots, the message that led you there, and what information you entered. Remove passwords, full card numbers, security codes, and identity documents from anything you submit. If the site is still open in a browser, copy its address without interacting with page controls, then close it.

Watch for follow-up scams
After a phishing incident, criminals may contact you pretending to be PlayStation, your bank, or a recovery specialist. They may claim to have found the breach, offer a refund, or threaten suspension unless you act immediately. Treat unexpected calls, texts, direct messages, and emails as untrusted. Open the official app or type the known website address yourself, and start the contact there.
- Never provide your password, one-time code, passkey approval, full card security code, or remote-control access.
- Do not install software at the request of an unsolicited “support” agent.
- Do not move a conversation to an encrypted chat app merely because the sender says it is required for recovery.
- Keep the original phishing message and site address as evidence, but do not click its links again.
When the incident is contained
You can consider the immediate response complete when the PlayStation password is unique, the linked email is secure, all PlayStation devices have been signed out, recovery details are correct, stronger sign-in protection is enabled, and transaction and bank records show no unexplained activity. Continue checking email, PlayStation notifications, and financial statements for a while because an attacker may try a delayed password reset or payment attempt.
Entering a login on a fake store is serious, but fast action usually limits what the stolen credential can do. Start with official channels, change exposed passwords everywhere they were reused, and escalate to PlayStation Support and your financial institution whenever access or money is at risk.
