1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteIf a sports injury keeps coming back, arrange a professional assessment rather than treating each flare as a separate setback. The cause may be different from what you assume, and the right plan depends on what is injured. Once that is clear, rebuild the movement and strength your sport requires, then return gradually while using symptoms to guide each step.
Why a recurring sports injury needs reassessment
Recurring pain is a symptom, not a diagnosis. Sprains, strains and tendon problems can have different causes and treatments; a flare-up alone cannot tell you which structure is affected or whether the original problem has fully healed. Cleveland Clinic recommends a provider-guided treatment plan for sports injuries, and notes that tendon symptoms can return when a treated tendon is overloaded again. Cleveland Clinic’s sports injury overview and its tendonitis guidance explain why the same approach does not fit every injury.
Seek an assessment from a qualified healthcare professional if symptoms keep returning, persist, worsen or limit ordinary use. They can help identify what is injured, what activity or load may be provoking symptoms, and whether you need rehabilitation or further care. Do not use a general article to decide whether recurring pain is a strain, tendon problem, fracture, ligament injury or something else.
When to seek urgent care
Get prompt medical attention for severe pain that is not improving, major swelling or bruising, visible deformity, or inability to move or use the injured area. Worsening pain or swelling and numbness are also emergency warning signs in NHS guidance on sprains and strains. Cleveland Clinic and the NHS describe these warning signs.

Rebuild before returning to full sport
Rest may be appropriate early on, but recovery can also require restoring strength and flexibility. Depending on the injury, a clinician may recommend physical therapy and a customized exercise plan. The exercises and timing should match your diagnosis; restarting a generic routine or returning as soon as pain eases may leave important movement or strength demands unaddressed. Cleveland Clinic’s sports injury guidance describes provider-directed treatment and rehabilitation.
Leeds Community Healthcare NHS recommends building movement and strength, practising elements of the target activity, and then resuming sport at reduced effort before increasing gradually. For example, a runner might begin with light jogging; a team-sport player might practise running, stopping and changing direction before returning to play. These are examples, not a prescribed sequence for every injury. Ask your clinician which movements and loads you need to tolerate before practice or competition. See Leeds Community Healthcare’s return-to-activity guidance.

Use symptoms to decide whether to progress
Leeds Community Healthcare’s general guide uses symptoms, movement and strength as signals for adjusting activity:
- Green: No pain or swelling, with normal strength and movement, is a sign that the current level of activity may be manageable.
- Amber: Mild discomfort or stiffness means use caution and modify the activity rather than pushing through unchanged.
- Red: Sharp or increasing pain, swelling that returns, or loss of movement or strength means stop and seek professional advice.
The guide gives starting at 50% effort and increasing intensity slowly—up to 10% more per week—as a general example. It is not a universal medical rule or a substitute for advice tailored to your injury. A fixed return date is not appropriate for an unspecified injury: recovery depends on the injury and its severity, treatment, age, health conditions and functional progress. Cleveland Clinic warns that returning too soon can interrupt healing. Leeds Community Healthcare and Cleveland Clinic offer general guidance, not an individual clearance decision.
