In the 2026 Trick-or-Treat event, leftover red, green and purple candy has three useful destinations: finish any remaining candy-related Event Duties, give it to villagers for an unfinished gifting duty or friendship progress, and craft Halloween decorations. If every duty is complete, prioritize the decorations you want to keep, because crafting turns candy into permanent furniture while eating and gifting mainly serve event objectives.
The event runs through October 31, 2026. The official announcements do not say whether unused candy is deleted, converted, sold or retained afterward, so do not rely on a specific post-event inventory result.

Start by checking what the game still wants you to do
Open the Village menu and select Event Duties. Any unfinished candy-eating or candy-gifting objective should come before spending your supply on furniture. The 2026 announcement explicitly says, “Candy can be eaten or gifted to complete Event Duties.” Completing those objectives is the only documented reason to consume candy directly.
- Open the Village menu.
- Select Event Duties.
- Read the remaining Trick-or-Treat objectives and note whether they require eating candy, gifting candy or another Halloween action.
- Reserve enough red, green and purple candy for any listed requirement before crafting.
- Return to the Duties menu after completing an objective and claim its reward if the game presents a claim button.
If no candy duty remains, eating candy is optional rather than a special way to preserve its value. Gifting can still make sense when you want to advance a villager relationship, but crafting is the clearest way to turn surplus candy into an item that remains as Valley furniture.

How the 2026 candy supply works
Three Candy Bowl colors appear in the Plaza: red, purple and green. Each bowl supplies two candies of its matching color. The event’s spawn schedule and storage cap matter when deciding whether to wait for more candy or spend what you have.

These figures come from Gameloft’s 2026 event announcement: Trick or Treat Returns to the Valley This Halloween. Because only five bowls of a color can be present simultaneously, collecting bowls when you see them prevents the Plaza from sitting at its cap and gives later spawns room to appear. On October 31, the hourly schedule makes regular collection especially worthwhile.
Choose between eating, gifting and crafting
Eat candy when an eating duty remains
Eating is the fastest way to satisfy an Event Duty that specifically asks for candy consumption. It does not require a recipe, a villager or a crafting station. Check the duty’s wording first so you do not spend a color needed for a decoration before the objective is complete.

Gift candy when a gifting duty or relationship goal remains
Give candy to villagers if the Event Duties menu still lists a candy-gifting objective. A gift also fits a player’s normal friendship plans when a villager needs another present. The 2026 event adds a separate daily trick-or-treat activity at lit Jack-o’-Lanterns, so gifting candy is not the only Halloween interaction available.

Craft when you want a lasting reward
Crafting consumes specific amounts of all three colors and produces Halloween Town furniture. This is the best outlet for candy after duties are complete if you want a permanent decoration rather than an immediate objective reward. Keep the colors balanced: every listed Halloween Town recipe requires red, green and purple in equal quantities.

The event lists four Halloween Town decorations with published candy prices. The “total candy” column is the sum of the three color requirements for one copy.

The Fence is the cheapest listed recipe and is a practical way to use a small, uneven-looking surplus once your duties are finished. The Mausoleum is the largest single purchase, requiring five of each color, so plan for a balanced stock rather than spending one color freely on gifts. The Graveyard Statue and Gravestone sit between those two costs and can help use medium-sized reserves.

Mickey’s Halloween Candy Bowl
Mickey’s Halloween Candy Bowl is also craftable during the event. The announcement tells players who do not already have its recipe that it will be delivered through in-game mail. Check your mailbox before assuming the item is unavailable. The announcement does not publish a candy cost for this bowl, so use the recipe shown in your own crafting menu rather than estimating one from the other decorations.

Use the Jack-o’-Lantern houses for daily trick-or-treating
During the 2026 event, lit Jack-o’-Lanterns outside six homes enable daily trick-or-treat interactions. The homes belong to Mickey Mouse, WALL•E, Daisy, Stitch, Mike Wazowski and Jack Skellington. Visit those locations and interact with the lit pumpkins when the daily activity is available.
This house activity is distinct from simply eating candy. If an Event Duty asks you to trick-or-treat, follow the pumpkin interaction described by the duty rather than assuming that consuming an item from your inventory will count. If the duty asks for gifts, use the candy-gifting objective instead and track its progress in the Event Duties menu.
A practical spending order for the final days
October 14–30: protect your recipe stock
For most of the event, each color receives two new bowls every 24 hours, and each color can have five bowls waiting in the Valley. Collecting regularly builds a reserve, but it also creates a temptation to spend one color faster than the others. Keep red, green and purple roughly even if you want a large decoration such as the Mausoleum.

After that, set aside the amount for the decoration you want, then use any remainder for additional gifts or a smaller recipe. This avoids reaching the final day with enough total candy but too little of one color.

October 31: collect frequently, then craft
On October 31, two bowls of each color appear every hour. Since the maximum is five bowls of each color at one time, several collection trips can produce more opportunities than a single visit. Check the Plaza, collect available bowls, review Event Duties, and spend only after you know which objectives and recipes matter to you.
The event ends on October 31, 2026. Treat that date as the final confirmed opportunity for event activity, but do not assume a particular cutoff hour unless the game displays one for your region or platform.

Gameloft’s 2026 announcement does not state that unused candy is deleted, converted into another currency, sold automatically or retained permanently. The 2025 event announcement likewise does not establish a universal end-of-event inventory rule. The earlier 2023 Enchanted Adventure update confirms that the candy activity is limited-time and connected to Dreamlight Duties, but it does not define what happens to every leftover item after the event.

Common problems and fixes
There are no bowls where you expect them
Check the Plaza and remember that the event uses a timed spawn schedule rather than an unlimited supply. From October 14–30, new bowls arrive every 24 hours; on October 31, they arrive every hour. Also check whether five bowls of that color are already present, because that is the stated maximum.
You spent one color and cannot craft a recipe
Every listed Halloween Town decoration requires equal red, green and purple quantities. Stop spending the depleted color on optional gifts, then collect later bowls until the three-color requirement is met. The recipe table shows the exact target for each item.
The Candy Bowl recipe is missing
Check in-game mail. Players who do not already have Mickey’s Halloween Candy Bowl recipe are told it will be provided there. After claiming the message, look in the crafting menu for the recipe and follow the quantities displayed by your game.

Reopen Event Duties and read the exact requirement. A candy-gifting duty and a trick-or-treat interaction at a lit Jack-o’-Lantern are separate activities in the 2026 event. Use the action named by the objective, then verify that its counter increased before spending more candy.
Final checklist
- Review Village > Event Duties and finish any candy-eating or candy-gifting requirement.
- Visit the six homes with lit Jack-o’-Lanterns for the daily trick-or-treat activity when it is available.
- Keep red, green and purple reserves balanced if you want Halloween Town furniture.
- Craft the Fence, Gravestone, Graveyard Statue or Mausoleum according to the published costs.
- Check in-game mail for Mickey’s Halloween Candy Bowl if its recipe is not unlocked.
- Use the October 31 hourly bowl schedule to collect final supplies, while remembering that the post-event fate of unused candy has not been officially specified.
