Before leaving for a Desert Mountain High School football game, verify the current date, kickoff time, venue and ticket instructions. Home games are associated with the campus at 12575 E. Via Linda, Scottsdale, Arizona 85259; away games are played at the opposing school. Scottsdale Unified School District rules require clear bags, prohibit re-entry and outside food and beverages, and set supervision and seating requirements for students in eighth grade and younger.
Start with the specific game listing
A Desert Mountain football schedule is not enough by itself to plan your trip. Confirm four details for the particular game: the date, kickoff time, venue and ticket method. The school’s athletics page provides the team information, address, ticket-purchase link and policy links, while its varsity calendar warns that exported entries may not reflect recent changes.

Use the calendar as a starting point, then verify the event through AZPreps365, which the school identifies as the place to confirm current dates, times and locations. This matters especially when a game is moved, a kickoff time changes or a listing is updated after the calendar export.

Know whether you are going to a home or away game
| Game type | Where to go | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Home game | Desert Mountain High School, 12575 E. Via Linda, Scottsdale, AZ 85259 | Current kickoff time, ticket listing, entrance instructions and any event-day notices |
| Away game | The opponent’s high-school venue | Host-school address, parking, entrances, ticket rules and local restrictions |
For an away game, use the host school’s directions and policies. The available Desert Mountain information does not establish a particular parking lot, spectator gate or entrance procedure for every opponent, so do not assume that a home-game routine applies on the road. Host facilities may also publish event-specific instructions that supplement district-wide guidance.
Buy the right ticket
The Desert Mountain athletics page links to the current ticket-purchase listing. Use that listing for availability and the amount charged for the individual game. The retrieved school information does not state a universal ticket price, so a price quoted from an older game could be wrong.
High-school student activity passes are limited to high-school students. A middle-school or elementary-school child cannot use that high-school pass; the school says younger students need an individual ticket and must attend with a parent. Plan tickets for every person who needs admission, including children who will sit with your group.
Keep the ticket information accessible on your phone or in the format the current listing specifies. If the host school handles an away-game sale, follow that host’s instructions rather than assuming the Desert Mountain home-game link is the admission system for the road venue.
Understand the clear-bag rule
What the policy requires
Scottsdale Unified School District game-day guidance states “CLEAR BAGS ONLY.” Bring a transparent bag for personal items. The published guidance reviewed for this article does not state a permitted size, number of compartments or an approved model, so check the current event instructions before buying a bag or arriving at the gate.
A clear bag is a practical way to comply, but transparency alone does not override other restrictions. Security staff can still inspect what is inside, and an item that violates the beverage, food or conduct rules can be refused even when carried in a clear bag.

What not to assume
- Do not assume a normal opaque purse, backpack or drawstring bag will be accepted.
- Do not assume the same bag dimensions apply at every opponent’s stadium.
- Do not treat a bag policy as permission to bring prohibited food, drinks or equipment.
Water, food and drinks
The district allows sealed plastic water bottles and empty insulated water bottles. Those are the specific water-container exceptions identified in the game-day guidance.

That means a packed meal, soft drink, sports drink or filled personal tumbler should not be part of your entry plan unless the current event instructions expressly change the rule. If you need refreshments, plan around the venue’s own concessions and any accessibility or medical accommodation process it publishes.
An insulated bottle must be empty when you arrive under the stated rule. A sealed plastic bottle is permitted as sealed; opening it before entry could remove the condition that makes it allowable. When in doubt, bring only the containers clearly covered by the current policy.
Re-entry is not allowed
Desert Mountain and district game-day information says re-entry is not permitted. Once you leave the stadium or event area, you should expect that your ticket will not let you come back through the gate.
Organize the visit before entering: use the restroom, collect food and water, check that children have what they need and decide where your group will meet if someone is delayed. Do not leave to retrieve a forgotten item from the car unless you are prepared to miss the rest of the game.

Items and behavior that can stop you at the gate
The district prohibits several spectator items and behaviors in addition to the bag and beverage rules:

- Air horns, cowbells and other noise makers
- Spectator athletic equipment
- Signs or banners that disrupt sightlines
These restrictions protect the view and hearing of other spectators and help staff manage a crowded event. A sign that blocks the person behind you can be a problem even if it is not attached to equipment, and a noisemaker can be refused even when it fits inside a permitted bag.
Leave team-support items that fall into these categories at home. If you want to display a message, use only what the current venue guidance allows and keep it below sightlines. Do not bring sports equipment for casual play in the stands or concourse.
Rules for students in eighth grade and younger
Students in eighth grade and under have additional requirements under the district guidance. They must bring a student ID, attend with a parent or guardian and sit in the stands. The school’s athletics information adds that middle- and elementary-school students need their own individual tickets; a high-school activity pass does not cover them.

Before leaving home
- Put the student’s school ID with the ticket or other admission information.
- Confirm that a parent or guardian will remain responsible for the child at the event.
- Plan for seating in the stands rather than allowing the child to watch from restricted team or field areas.
- Purchase an individual ticket for the child.
These requirements are separate from the clear-bag policy. Meeting one does not replace the others: a child with an ID still needs a parent or guardian, a ticket and an approved place to sit.
A practical planning sequence
- Find the event. Open the current Desert Mountain athletics or varsity listing and identify the opponent, date and venue.
- Confirm it. Check AZPreps365 for the current date, kickoff time and location because the school warns that exported calendar entries can become stale.
- Classify the venue. Decide whether the game is at 12575 E. Via Linda in Scottsdale or at the opponent’s school. For an away game, switch to the host school’s directions and policies.
- Handle admission. Follow the current ticket link, check availability and note the listed price. Buy individual tickets for middle- and elementary-school students.
- Pack for screening. Use a clear bag, bring only a sealed plastic water bottle or an empty insulated bottle if needed, and remove outside food, beverages, noisemakers and prohibited equipment.
- Prepare younger students. Pack student ID, arrange for a parent or guardian to attend and plan for seating in the stands.
- Plan to stay. Because re-entry is prohibited, complete errands and gather essentials before entering.
- Check once more on game day. Look for a host-school update about time, location, parking, entrances or event-specific restrictions before departing.
Arrival and venue logistics
Arrive with enough time for ticket checks and bag screening. The available school and district information does not publish one universal arrival time, parking map or gate number. Those details can vary by stadium and are particularly important for away games.
For a home game, begin with the Desert Mountain campus address and then follow the latest event directions. For a road game, enter the opponent’s address into your navigation only after confirming that the calendar has not changed. Read the host’s parking and entrance instructions rather than stopping at the first lot you see; some facilities separate team buses, staff parking and spectator parking.

What to do when information conflicts
Use the most specific, current event instruction. A schedule export may show an old time, while a host school’s game-day notice may show a revised kickoff. The school specifically directs readers to verify through AZPreps365, so use that confirmation step before relying on a calendar entry.
For policy questions, distinguish between district-wide rules and host-venue instructions. Clear bags, beverage limits, no re-entry and spectator-conduct restrictions come from district game-day guidance. Parking, entrances, local ticketing and event-specific procedures may come from the stadium hosting that particular game.
If a child’s eligibility or supervision is unclear, do not rely on an activity pass assumption. The published school rule is straightforward: high-school activity passes are for high-school students, while middle- and elementary-school students need individual tickets and a parent.
Quick packing checklist
- Current ticket for every attendee
- Student ID for each student in eighth grade or younger
- Clear bag that meets the latest event instructions
- Sealed plastic water bottle or empty insulated water bottle, if needed
- Phone with the confirmed schedule, venue address and ticket information
- No outside food or beverages
- No air horns, cowbells, other noise makers, spectator athletic equipment or sightline-blocking signs
What the official information does not establish
The published material does not give a universal ticket price, a clear-bag size limit, a standard parking lot, a guaranteed spectator entrance or a single arrival time for every game. Those omissions are reasons to check the current listing, not reasons to guess.
The athletics page also links to an NFHS livestreaming subscription resource, but the available information does not establish that a particular Desert Mountain game will be carried there. It should not be treated as a confirmed substitute for attending unless the event listing identifies the broadcast.
Bottom line for game day
Verify the event first, then match your plan to the venue. Bring a compliant clear bag, follow the limited water-container allowance, leave outside food and drinks and prohibited spectator items at home, and expect no re-entry. Younger students need an individual ticket, student ID, a parent or guardian and a seat in the stands. For a home game, start with the Via Linda campus address; for an away game, follow the opponent’s current directions and rules.
