Start with three checks before you click Pre-purchase
- Identify the seller and checkout. A purchase made directly through Steam, Epic Games Store, or Microsoft is governed by that platform’s terms. A third-party key shop or separate payment provider may apply its own policy instead.
- Open the edition details. Compare the base game and every higher-priced tier item by item. Look for launch content, later-delivered expansions, season passes, soundtracks, artbooks, cosmetic items, virtual currency, and any stated early-play period.
- Open System Requirements. Check the supported operating system, processor, graphics hardware, memory, storage, and any special requirements against your actual PC. Treat minimum specifications as a compatibility floor, not a performance promise.
Save a copy of the order confirmation and note the release date, because refund windows and billing events are measured from different dates on different stores.

| Storefront | Official rule for a preorder | Important qualifications |
|---|---|---|
| Steam | A preorder can be refunded any time before the game releases. After release, the request must be made within two weeks of release and playtime must be under two hours. | For a preorder that includes Advance Access, the pre-release deadline is before Advance Access begins. The normal 14-day period starts at the official release. |
| Epic Games Store | A PC or Mac product marked refundable or self-refundable is generally eligible within 14 days of purchase, or within 14 days after release when it was pre-purchased. Runtime must be less than two hours. | Some products are marked non-refundable, including products containing virtual currency or consumables. Epic says an eligible self-refundable preorder can be refunded before release. |
| Microsoft Store | For a digital preorder cancelled after billing but before release, Microsoft says the cancellation is processed as a refund. | Account-balance payments are charged immediately; other payment methods may be charged up to 10 days before release. Microsoft separately says PC digital goods generally are not refundable unless an offer or applicable law provides otherwise. |
These are US-facing policy summaries available October 13, 2026. Store terms can change, and local consumer law may alter your rights. Epic’s policy applies to purchases completed through Epic checkout; a transaction completed elsewhere follows the point-of-purchase terms.
Steam: the release date and Advance Access matter
Steam’s stated rule is direct: “Per Steam’s standard refund policy, you may refund your pre-order any time prior to the release of the game.” If you wait until after release, the ordinary limits apply: submit the request within 14 days of release and keep total playtime below two hours.
Advance Access changes the pre-release cutoff. If the edition lets you play before launch, the preorder must be refunded before that Advance Access period starts. Once the game reaches its official release, the standard 14-day window begins; playing during Advance Access does not give you an additional two-hour-free period or reset the clock. Check the listing for the exact Advance Access start time.

Epic Games Store: inspect the refund label
Epic’s policy is conditional rather than universal. On the product page, look for the words refundable or self-refundable. For an eligible pre-purchase, the stated window is 14 days after the game releases, with less than two hours of runtime; Epic also says an eligible self-refundable preorder can be refunded before release. A product marked non-refundable does not receive that standard treatment.
Examine the whole bundle, not only the base game. Virtual currency and consumable items are examples of content that can make a product non-refundable under Epic’s policy. The policy also discusses European Union statutory withdrawal rights and the possibility of requesting a waiver at purchase, so the result can depend on your country and the consent recorded during checkout.
Microsoft Store: cancellation depends on when billing occurs
Microsoft’s digital-preorder billing schedule is different. If you use account balance, the charge happens immediately. With other payment methods, Microsoft may charge as much as 10 days before release. Cancelling after that charge but before release is processed as a refund according to Microsoft’s preorder guidance.

Review the order’s cancellation option and the terms shown for that game and region before relying on a refund.

Third-party purchases and statutory rights
If a code came from a key seller, a console account marketplace, or another payment provider, start with that seller’s policy. The platform on which you redeem a code may not be the merchant that took your money. Keep invoices, screenshots of the refund designation, and the order number in case support asks where the transaction occurred.
Compare editions without paying for content you will not use
There is no universal meaning for labels such as Deluxe, Gold, or Ultimate. A higher tier is worthwhile only when its listed contents matter to you and are usable on your chosen PC storefront.

| Listing detail to verify | Question to answer before ordering |
|---|---|
| Base game | Does this tier include the complete PC game, or only a starter product, trial, or upgrade entitlement? |
| Expansion or season pass | Is the additional content included at launch, scheduled for later, or merely discounted as a future purchase? |
| Cosmetics and bonuses | Are items functional, cosmetic, account-bound, or limited to a particular platform or edition? |
| Soundtrack or artbook | Are these digital files, and where will they be delivered after purchase? |
| Virtual currency and consumables | Could these items affect refund eligibility or expire under the product’s terms? |
| Advance Access | How long is the early-play window, and when exactly does it begin? |
| PC compatibility | Will every listed bonus work in the PC version and on the storefront you intend to use? |
Write down the price difference and the specific items you value. If an expansion is scheduled months later, treat it as a promise of listed content rather than something available on release day. If the store does not state when a bonus arrives, consider its delivery timing unknown rather than assuming it is a launch item.
Advance Access is not the same as Early Access
Steam calls pre-release play Advance Access. Valve describes it as “simply an opportunity to play a game before it fully releases on Steam,” not a separate development model. The publisher or developer chooses whether to offer it, and only participating games include it. The store page identifies which editions qualify and the start time.
Early Access, by contrast, is a development and distribution model in which a game is sold while it is still being developed. An Early Access title may change substantially, have incomplete features, or never reach the final scope you expect. An edition that grants Advance Access to a finished release is not automatically an Early Access product. Read the product description and refund conditions for the exact game instead of treating the labels as interchangeable.

- Compatible with Wide Screens - To ensure compatibility with the dual monitor mount, your each monitor must meet three conditions at the same time: First, computer screens size range: 13 to 32 inches. Second, screen weight range: 4.4 to 19.8 lbs. Third, the back of the monitor screen must have VESA mounting holes with a pitch of 75x75mm or 100x100mm.
- Regarding the compatibility with desks - Your desk must meet three conditions at the same time: First, desk material: Only wooden desks are recommended, plastic or glass desks cannot be used. Second, desk thickness range: 0.59" - 3.54". Third, the bottom of the desk should not have any cross beams or panels, as this will interfere with installation. We recommend carefully checking that your desk and monitors meets all above conditions before purchasing.
- Dual C-Clamp Hold - Worried your dual monitors might wobble or slip? Our upgraded base uses a larger platform plus a dual C-clamp structure to lock the dual monitor arm firmly to your desk. Each arm safely keeps your screens steady while you type, click and game—no shaking, no sliding, just a clean and secure setup you can trust every day. It also provides Grommet Mounting installation choice, both options ensure stable and secure fixation for your 0.59" - 3.54" desk.
- Full-Motion Adjustment For Comfortable View - Pull the screen closer when you’re deep in a spreadsheet, push it back to watch videos, or rotate to portrait for coding — moving everything smoothly with just one hand. The monitor stand offers +85°/-50° tilt, ±90° swivel and 360° rotation. Raise your monitor up to 15.75″ to support a healthy sitting posture. Whether you’re working from home, gaming through the night, or switching between video calls and documents, getting the screens to your natural line of sight helps relieve neck, shoulder and back strain so you can stay focused longer with less fatigue.
- Keep Your Desk Organized: By lifting both screens off the desktop, this dual monitor stand opens up valuable space for your keyboard, notebook, docking station or a simple, clutter-free work area. Built-in cable management guides wires along the arms, keeping cords out of sight and out of the way. Enjoy a tidy, modern workstation that looks as good as it feels to use.
How to check whether your PC can run the game
- Open the exact listing. Go to the store page for the edition and platform you plan to buy, then expand System Requirements. Requirements can differ between PC and console versions or between editions that include demanding add-ons.
- Confirm the operating system. Check the supported OS and version, whether a 64-bit installation is required, and whether a separate launcher or account is listed. An otherwise powerful computer can fail to launch when the OS is unsupported.
- Match the processor and graphics hardware. Compare the model names, not just marketing labels. A listed graphics card requirement may also imply a minimum graphics memory amount or a feature such as a particular rendering API when the page specifies one.
- Check memory and storage. Compare installed RAM with the requirement and reserve enough storage for the initial installation and updates. A drive that has only the listed free space may leave no room for patches or shader caches.
- Separate minimum from recommended. Minimum specifications usually indicate the developer’s lower compatibility target. They do not state a guaranteed frame rate, resolution, texture quality, loading time, or stability level.
Steam warns that computers at or near the published requirements can still experience performance or launch problems. If your hardware is close to the line, wait for a demo or independent performance testing where available instead of buying a new component based only on a vague recommended label. A requirement list is useful for screening compatibility; it is not a benchmark for your particular combination of drivers, background software, display resolution, and settings.
What to do when your PC is below a requirement
- If the OS is unsupported, do not assume a faster GPU will solve the problem; an operating-system upgrade may be necessary, or the game may simply be incompatible.
- If RAM or storage is short, verify whether the requirement is for installed capacity or free capacity and account for updates before deciding on an upgrade.
- If the processor or graphics card is below minimum, look for a demo, a clearly documented cloud option, or tested settings for your exact hardware. Do not infer performance from a different game using the same engine.
- If your PC just meets minimum specifications, plan to start with conservative resolution and quality settings and keep graphics drivers current, while recognizing that no store requirement guarantees a particular result.
A practical preorder decision framework
Preorder now
Proceed only when the edition contents are clear, the storefront marks the product refundable under terms you can accept, and your PC is comfortably above the listed requirements. You should also be comfortable paying before independent reviews or launch-day testing are available.
Wait for release
Waiting is safer when the refund policy is conditional or unclear, the game includes consumables, your hardware is close to minimum, or the publisher has not explained which bonuses arrive at launch. Release-day performance reports can answer questions that a requirements box cannot.
Skip the preorder
Do not purchase when the seller’s cancellation terms conflict with your risk tolerance, the listing omits critical edition details, or the game requires hardware and software you cannot verify. A promised cosmetic item or short Advance Access window is rarely a reason to accept an otherwise unsuitable purchase.
What to record after ordering
- Save the receipt, order number, edition name, and the store’s displayed refund designation.
- Record the advertised release date and, if applicable, the Advance Access start time.
- Note when the payment was actually captured, especially for Microsoft preorders that may bill up to 10 days early.
- When requesting a refund, state whether the game was released, whether you used Advance Access, and your total runtime. Use the merchant that processed the payment.
- If a request is denied, check whether the product was marked non-refundable, whether consumables were included, whether you exceeded a time limit, or whether a regional statutory right applies.
Common preorder mistakes and how to avoid them
- Assuming every store uses a 14-day/two-hour rule: That combination is not Microsoft’s general PC-digital-goods policy, and Epic applies it only to eligible labeled products.
- Playing Advance Access and then requesting a pre-release refund: Steam’s pre-release cutoff ends when Advance Access starts.
- Confusing Advance Access with Early Access: One describes timing before release; the other describes a game still in development.
- Comparing only the tier names: Read every included item and its delivery timing instead of assuming a Deluxe or Ultimate label has standard contents.
- Treating minimum requirements as a frame-rate promise: Requirements do not specify a guaranteed resolution, quality preset, or smoothness.
- Ignoring the merchant: A redeemed key does not necessarily inherit the refund terms of the platform where you activate it.
Make the decision from the listing, not the label
A sound preorder decision is a documented match between the exact seller, edition, refund rule, release schedule, and your own PC. If any one of those remains uncertain, waiting preserves information and usually reduces the chance of an expensive surprise.
