Start with Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, then follow a release-progression route: Re:Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, Birth by Sleep Final Mix, Dream Drop Distance HD, 0.2 Birth by Sleep – A fragmentary passage –, and Kingdom Hearts III. For a first playthrough, this order introduces the story in a more approachable progression than rearranging the games into in-universe chronology. The collection also includes cinematic recaps, so not every listed work is a playable game.

This is a practical recommendation, not an order Square Enix prescribes. The series’ packaging and story chronology do not line up as one simple sequence: prequels and recap films appear alongside games originally released at different points. Following release progression avoids starting with later-era stories that can disclose information the earlier games introduce gradually.
Where do 358/2 Days, Re:coded, and χ Back Cover fit?
These entries in the All-In-One Package are presented as cinematic material, not as full playable games. Fit them into the route as recaps rather than treating them as required game stops:

Which collection should you get, and on what platform?
The physical All-In-One Package is a PS4 product. Square Enix’s portal lists the 1.5+2.5 and 2.8 collections on PS4, Xbox One, Epic Games Store, and Steam, and also lists newer platform families: Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Microsoft Store on Windows. Availability varies by collection release and territory, so check the store for your specific platform and region. See the official Kingdom Hearts portal for the publisher’s platform lineup.
