Ubisoft is bringing the teams responsible for The Division, Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell under the Massive Entertainment identity. The October 2026 announcement describes a shared organizational home across several locations—not a new game announcement, a release timetable or a move out of Ubisoft.

What Ubisoft announced

Ubisoft says Creative House 2 will operate under the Massive Entertainment name. Teams responsible for The Division, Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell in Montréal, Paris, Sweden and Toronto will work under that shared identity. Ubisoft describes the aim as bringing their creative and technology expertise together. Ubisoft’s October 2026 announcement does not say that the teams have all moved to one office or that one location will make every future game.

How the reorganisation developed

January 2026: Creative House 2 groups the franchises

On January 21, Ubisoft announced a wider organizational, operational and portfolio reset, creating five Creative Houses organized around brands and player experiences. Creative House 2 was assigned shooter experiences, including The Division, Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell. The reset also included studio closures and restructuring as part of broader cost and portfolio changes. Ubisoft’s January announcement, hosted by Euronext, sets out that initial structure.

March 2026: Ubisoft explains the operating model

In March, Ubisoft said each Creative House would have responsibility for developing and growing its brands, with greater autonomy and accountability. A separate Creative Network would provide production capacity and specialist expertise across projects; Thomas Andrén was named to lead it. The distinction matters: Creative Houses own brand development, while the network is described as a source of shared capabilities. Ubisoft’s March leadership update describes the model.

October 2026: Creative House 2 adopts the Massive identity

The October announcement gives Creative House 2 the Massive Entertainment identity and places the named franchise teams under it. Ubisoft’s wording presents this as a shared identity across Montréal, Paris, Sweden and Toronto, not as a claim that the teams have become one physical studio.

What it means for Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell

The clearest practical change is organizational: the teams responsible for both franchises are grouped under the same identity as The Division teams. Ubisoft’s stated rationale is collaboration and combining creative and technical expertise across locations. Massive Entertainment General Manager Christoph Hartmann said the arrangement offers an opportunity to “combine the creative energy and expertise” of those teams and to shape the franchises’ next generation.

That language describes Ubisoft’s ambition, not a specific project. The announcement does not identify a new Ghost Recon or Splinter Cell game, name its creative leadership, or say how staff or responsibilities will be allocated. It gives no reveal, launch or release date. The organizational change alone therefore cannot establish what either franchise’s next game will be or when it might arrive.

Ubisoft still publishes and distributes the games

Massive Entertainment remains part of Ubisoft. Ubisoft says it will continue publishing and distributing games developed under the Massive brand, and that existing commitments to players and partners are unchanged. The change is not a publishing separation or an announcement that either franchise has left Ubisoft.

How this relates to the Splinter Cell remake

In a February 19, 2026 report, PC Gamer said Ubisoft had confirmed the Splinter Cell remake remained in development after 40 role reductions at Toronto. That is a dated report from before the October reorganisation announcement; it does not provide a new status or timetable for the remake. PC Gamer’s February report should be read as historical context, not an October update.
