The six Spirits are the material cost, not a suggested reserve. If you are preparing for the evolution, do not stop at five. You may want additional Flameruff Spirits only if you plan to evolve another Flameruff or want a spare before farming again; no separate reserve quantity is established.
What you must do before the evolution appears
Having six Spirits does not necessarily make Inferlupa selectable immediately. Current guides describe a gate involving a Night Stone, a level-20 requirement, and a Journey quest. The quest is referred to as The Warrior in one reference and Journey: Warrior in another, so the punctuation and category may differ from the wording you see in your client.
Use the evolution interface as the final check because it reflects your character’s current progress. If the branch remains locked, inspect the requirement list rather than spending more Spirits. - Raise the Flameruff to the required level. Current guides cite level 20 for this branch. Verify the number shown in your own evolution screen, particularly after a game update.

The item database calls the target “Flameruff: Elite,” while current gameplay guides call it “Flameruff the Mighty.” These names describe the elite target associated with the Spirit drop in the available references. If your map or encounter label uses one name instead of the other, match the elite designation and verify the item-drop information in the encounter.
Check the current map name
Location names also differ between references. The item database lists Thousand-Fang Ridge; a current guide directs players to Beast Fang Ridge and identifies the daytime elite as Flameruff the Mighty. Because the names are not consistent across sources, use the map labels in your current game client rather than relying on an older route name. Search for the Flameruff elite and confirm whether the encounter is available during the daytime cycle described by the guide.
Defeat the elite instead of capturing it
The farming action matters. The guide evidence says capturing the elite does not award the Unbroken Flameruff Spirit. To pursue the material, defeat the named elite. Capture may be useful for other collection goals, but it is not the documented method for obtaining this evolution item.

Keep the map’s current day/night or encounter availability in mind if the elite is not present.
