Paramount Game Studios and Saber Interactive announced a new action RPG set in the Avatar Legends universe on October 3, 2024, but later reporting said it was not in production during a studio reorganization. There is no established release date, confirmed console list, or formal cancellation announcement in the available information.
What is the new Avatar game?
It is an announced AAA action RPG being developed by Paramount Game Studios and Saber Interactive in collaboration with Avatar Studios. The project is set in the broader Avatar Legends universe. It was not announced as a retelling of Aang’s or Korra’s specific story.
The announcement described a story about a previously unseen Avatar living thousands of years in the past. It also outlined plans for players to master all four elements, fight alongside companions, and make choices connected to maintaining balance. These are announced intentions, not features confirmed through released gameplay.
The companies called it “the biggest video game in franchise history.” That is their promotional description, not an independently verified ranking.

Is the Avatar AAA RPG still happening?
Its current status is unresolved. A 2026 report, as quoted in a secondary discussion-page search result, said Paramount executive Shawn Kittelsen described the project as not in production at a point during the reorganization of the company’s game studios after the Paramount–Skydance merger. That indicates it was not being actively produced at that time; it does not establish that the game was formally canceled.
The available information does not confirm a later revival or provide a newer official status. Treat the game as announced but without a confirmed production or release plan, rather than as either definitely forthcoming or definitively canceled.

What platforms and release date were announced?
The October 2024 announcement named PC and consoles, without identifying specific console models. Contemporaneous coverage supplied no release date. No confirmed release window, price, preorder, or edition information is established here.
