Track Wheels are a customization option; the documented handling-related choices are Low Grip Tires and, for eligible cars, Drift Tuning. Pick wheels for their look, then choose a grip setup that suits how and where you want to drive.
Do wheel styles affect drifting in GTA Online?
The available sources describe wheel styles as customization, but do not compare wheel designs for drift performance. They therefore do not establish that Track, Sport, or another wheel style makes a car drift better. For a handling change, look at tire grip or Drift Tuning instead.
What do Track Wheels do?
Rockstar added 30 Track Wheels in the 2021 Los Santos Tuners update; 10 were unlocked through LS Car Meet Reputation. They can be applied at the LS Car Meet Mod Shop. Rockstar lists them as a wheel customization category, separate from Low Grip Tires. See Rockstar’s GTAV Title Update 1.54 notes.
Which changes can make a car easier to slide?
Low Grip Tires
Low Grip Tires reduce traction and can make drifting easier, according to the secondary mechanics guide at GTACars.net. The tradeoff it reports is slower lap times, so reduced grip may suit freer sliding more than fast, controlled laps.

Rockstar introduced Low Grip Tires at the LS Car Meet Mod Shop for vehicles added with Los Santos Tuners. GTACars.net says the option later became available for all cars with the 2022 Criminal Enterprises DLC. The initial 2021 rollout covered 17 cars, according to that guide; this is a dated availability count, not a performance result. Availability for a particular vehicle can depend on the game’s current options.
Drift Tuning
Drift Tuning is a separate conversion, not a wheel style or tire choice, and is limited to eligible vehicles. Rockstar’s Title Update 1.70 notes, dated February 6, 2025, document additions to the roster. GTABase reports 27 vehicles with Drift Tuning on a list it says was updated October 2026; check the current in-game list because eligibility changes with updates.

Should you use Drift Tuning in Drift Races?
GTABase says Drift Tuning is intended for drifting in Freemode and is unnecessary for Drift Races: custom drift cars perform like stock cars in those races. For a Freemode build, first confirm that your car is eligible and decide whether the conversion fits your driving. For Drift Races, the roster source says the conversion does not provide that advantage.

A practical setup choice
- Want a different look? Choose the wheel style you like; the cited sources do not establish a best-performing style.
- Want easier slides? Consider Low Grip Tires where available, bearing in mind the reported lap-time tradeoff.
- Building for Freemode drifting? Check whether your vehicle supports Drift Tuning and review the in-game options.
- Racing in Drift Races? According to GTABase, Drift Tuning is not needed for those events.
