The Muppets are recurring comic guests at The Game Awards, but the reason they keep appearing has not been publicly confirmed in the sources available. The 2025 ceremony’s official recap lists Miss Piggy and Rowlf as presenters and names Geoff Keighley as an executive producer. Their appearances fit the show’s mix of awards, game announcements and music; that is a reasonable reading of the format, not a documented explanation for the booking.
What is confirmed about the Muppets at The Game Awards?
The Game Awards’ official 2025 recap lists Miss Piggy and Rowlf among the presenters at the ceremony, held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The same recap states: “The Game Awards is executive produced by Geoff Keighley and Kimmie Kim.”
The appearances are not a one-off. The 2025 recap and the limited recurrence information available from NPR’s 2024 recap indicate that the Muppets have appeared in multiple editions. That supports calling them recurring guests, but it does not establish a complete year-by-year history.
Why do the Muppets keep showing up?
No direct statement from Keighley or a Muppets representative in the available sources explains why the appearances recur. The most grounded explanation is about format, not motive: Amazon’s event guide describes The Game Awards as a broadcast combining awards, world premieres, major game announcements and musical performances. A Muppet comedy or music segment fits that kind of entertainment show, but this does not prove who arranged it or why.

It is therefore safest to separate what is known from speculation:
- Confirmed: Miss Piggy and Rowlf presented at the 2025 ceremony, and Keighley was one of its executive producers.
- Plausible interpretation: Muppet bits add comedy or variety to a show that mixes game-industry news with performance and spectacle.
- Unverified: Claims that Keighley books the Muppets because he is a fan, or that the appearances are intended to promote a Disney release. The available sources do not establish either motive.
What is Geoff Keighley’s role?
Keighley is more than a host attached to the broadcast. His official biography says he created, self-financed, produced and hosted The Game Awards beginning in late 2014; the 2025 recap identifies him as an executive producer alongside Kimmie Kim. That makes him central to the event, but it still does not show that he personally chose the Muppet appearances.

Do the Muppets explain The Game Awards’ audience growth?
No such connection is established. The Game Awards reported 171 million global livestreams for the 2025 full show, up 11% from 154 million in 2024. The official recap says the count excludes associated clips and trailers and does not include 2025 Prime Video views. It does not attribute the increase to any particular segment, including the Muppets.
