In the United States, Nintendo’s final announced retail preorder date for Nintendo Switch 2 was April 24, 2025. The console launched on June 5, 2025, so that preorder window has passed. What was the Nintendo Switch 2 preorder date in the U.S.?
Nintendo announced on April 18, 2025, that U.S. retail preorders would begin April 24, 2025. That later announcement superseded the earlier April 9 date for participating North American retailers. Nintendo said the change did not affect the June 5 launch date. Nintendo of America’s April 18, 2025 update gives the final U.S. date.

Why do some reports say April 9?
When Nintendo first announced Switch 2 on April 2, 2025, it said participating North American retailers would begin preorders on April 9. On April 18, Nintendo announced that U.S. retail preorders would instead begin April 24. For the U.S. retail preorder date, April 24 is the later, final date. Nintendo of America’s April 2 announcement contains the original April 9 timing.
When did Nintendo Switch 2 launch?
Nintendo Switch 2 launched on June 5, 2025. That makes the original preorder period historical rather than upcoming. Nintendo’s international launch announcement confirms the launch date.

What were the U.S. launch prices?
Nintendo of America listed these U.S. manufacturer suggested retail prices in its April 18, 2025 announcement. They are historical launch prices, not verified October 2026 prices or current seller offers.

Can you still preorder a Nintendo Switch 2?
The 2025 preorder window is over. Because current inventory and delivery estimates have not been verified, check retailer listings directly for purchase options and current prices. Nintendo’s historical announcement covered the console and the Mario Kart World bundle, but it does not establish present availability.

Nintendo Support describes different payment timing for digital game preorders and physical Nintendo Store pre-purchases: an eShop digital preorder is charged no sooner than seven days before the game’s release, while a physical item pre-purchase is charged immediately and ships one to three business days after release.
