Fortnite Reload was reported to debut on Saturday, June 22, 2024. The June 21 announcement described it as a limited-time mode, but did not confirm how long its first run would last or give an end date. This is a historical recap of that announcement, not news of a new 2026 return.
When did Fortnite Reload come out?
Tech Times reported on June 21, 2024, that Fortnite Reload would launch the following day, Saturday, June 22. That is the historical debut date given in the contemporary announcement: Tech Times’ June 21, 2024 report.

Epic’s Epic Games Store listing separately gives August 16, 2024 as the mode’s release date. That listing field is later than the debut date reported in June, so it should not be substituted for the date the original story announced. The listing describes Reload as a free Battle Royale mode: Epic Games Store: Fortnite Reload.
How long was Reload available?
The June 2024 report called Reload limited-time, but said it was unclear whether the mode would be available for that weekend only. It did not establish a confirmed end date or the length of the first run. The announcement therefore supports a launch date, not a specific removal date.

Which OG locations did the 2024 report name?
According to the June 2024 report, Fortnite’s teaser named five locations: Tilted Towers, Pleasant Park, Lil’ Loot Lake, Retail Row, and Sandy Sheets. Treat these as locations named in that 2024 announcement, not as a description of the map available today.
How Reload plays, according to Epic’s listing
- Format: a free, 40-player Battle Royale mode on a tighter map, with classic weapons and locations.
- Team sizes: Solo, Duo, or Squad play.
- Reboots: automatic reboots are part of team play, according to the Epic Games Store listing.
Why the 2024 map news is not current map information
Reload’s map availability has changed over time. In an announcement dated April 20, 2026, Epic said Elite Stronghold would be the only Reload map until April 30, when it would join a rotation with Venture and Slurp Rush. That later schedule is a reminder that the locations reported in 2024 should not be read as the present-day rotation. See Epic’s Fortnite announcement for the dated map update.
