North American release date
Square Enix’s 2006 annual report lists March 28, 2006, as the North American release date. The two dates refer to different regional launches, not conflicting accounts of one worldwide release: Square Enix Holdings’ 2006 annual report.
Is Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix the same release?
No. Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix is a later edition, distinct from the original 2005 PS2 release. Square Enix’s KINGDOM HEARTS -HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX- collection includes Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix. The official franchise portal lists the collection for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox on PC, Steam, and Epic Games Store; the collection page also shows physical purchase options for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. Formats and availability can vary by region and listing.

What Square Enix reported about shipments
Square Enix’s figures describe different scopes and should not be treated as directly comparable sales totals. Its 2007 announcement said worldwide shipments exceeded four million, explicitly including Final Mix+ and Ultimate Hits; the 2006 annual report separately recorded 1.26 million North American shipments by fiscal year-end. Those are publisher-reported shipment figures from different dates and categories, not equivalent measures.
