In Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition Enhanced, Golden Keys open the Golden Chest in the game’s hub area. The official announcement describes the chest and the edition’s rewards, including Golden Keys: Borderlands: Game of the Year Enhanced.
How to decide when to spend one
Use a key when replacing one or more pieces of your current equipment would make a practical difference. For example, if your weapons are taking too long to defeat enemies or your gear is no longer keeping up with your progress, opening the chest is a reasonable option. Spend keys now or save some?
If you have multiple keys, consider using one when you need an upgrade and keeping the rest for a later point in your playthrough. Avoid opening the chest repeatedly to chase one specific weapon or item. The available Borderlands 1 sources do not establish a guaranteed drop, exact drop table, or class-specific outcome. Save your rewards before exiting
