Skull Trooper first appeared in Fortnite’s Item Shop on October 25, 2017 in UTC− time zones and on October 26, 2017 in UTC+ time zones. The difference comes from when the shop rotates, not from two separate releases.
Release date by time zone
Skull Trooper was a Halloween character skin sold through the Item Shop during Fortnite’s Fortnitemares event in 2017. Because the shop refreshes at 00:00 UTC, players on either side of the world saw the outfit on different calendar days.

The date reported by the Fortnite Wiki’s historical outfit record matches this split. The Wiki is a community-maintained reference, so treat it as a secondary source; the dates below come from Epic’s own notes.
What Epic’s patch notes said
Epic Games published the Fortnitemares Update 1.8 Patch Notes on October 25, 2017. The notes announced that Halloween content would arrive on October 26 and listed Skull Trooper among the Halloween character skins in the new Item Shop section.

- Hyper-articulated (22 Moving parts) - perfect for emote posing
- Comes complete with the sharp precision back bling
- Ready for battle with the powerful epic bolt-action sniper rifle
- Harvest your materials with the included Death Valley pickaxe harvesting tool
- Skull trooper stands tall on a fortnite-branded display base
That gives two distinct dates to keep apart:
- October 25, 2017: the day Epic published the patch notes announcing the content.
- October 26, 2017: the date the Halloween content, including the Item Shop offer, was announced to arrive. Its local appearance varied by time zone as described above.
Original sale window
Epic’s notes stated that the Halloween skins would be available only until November 4, 2017. That end date describes the original sale window. It does not describe whether the outfit is available today.
Cosmetic-only purchase
Skull Trooper was bought with V-Bucks, Fortnite’s premium currency. Epic’s notes also stated: “All items sold are cosmetic only and do not grant any competitive advantage.” The statement applied to Item Shop items in that update.

Is Skull Trooper available now?
The sources behind this article establish the 2017 shop dates and the November 4, 2017 sale end, not current availability. Item Shop rotations change, and an outfit’s presence in the shop at one time does not guarantee it will be offered again. To check, open the Item Shop in Fortnite or search the official Skull Trooper Bundle listing on Epic’s Fortnite site, and rely on the offer shown there rather than on older listings.
Related Skull Trooper material from 2020
Epic’s Fortnitemares 2020 announcement, published October 21, 2020, included a printable Skull Trooper papercraft mask as an event activity. That was a limited event download, not a retail product, and it does not change the 2017 release date.
