Has Larian announced a release date for Divinity?
No. As of October 8, 2026, the available reports do not establish a confirmed date or release year. The game was announced as in development, and later updates have described its progress without offering a launch window.
Larian revealed Divinity, set in Rivellon, at The Game Awards on December 12, 2025. Its announcement called it the studio’s next major game and said it was in development. Larian’s official site is the place to check for new announcements.

On April 1, 2026, GameSpot reported Vincke describing the game as still rough or missing in places, while beginning to feel like a game. What is confirmed about the new game?
It is a new Divinity game set in Rivellon
Larian says newcomers will not need to have played its previous games to understand the new Divinity. Players familiar with Divinity: Original Sin or Divinity: Original Sin 2 may gain more understanding and continuity, but those games are not prerequisites.
Combat will be turn-based
In a December 2025 interview, Vincke confirmed turn-based combat and said the game uses a new ruleset informed by lessons from Larian’s earlier games.
