Open the live Reset panel for the exact item and read its confirmation text. Current references do not conclusively state whether Reset also removes Binding Rate progress or previous line-value upgrades.

What Soul Binding Reset does
Reset changes the complete set of Soul Binding stat lines on one piece of gear in a single operation. The resulting lines are shuffled or replaced together, so you cannot protect one good line while rerolling the others. That all-at-once scope is why Reset is useful for a fundamentally bad item and risky for an item that already has one or two valuable attributes.
Some community guides call the same action Rebind. Treat Reset and Rebind as the same full-reroll concept when you see those labels, but rely on the name and wording shown in your current game client. Names, material requirements and prices can change with patches or differ by item grade.

Reset, Sync and Bind: choose by scope

Do not use Bind as a substitute for Reset. Bind changes the magnitude of current lines; it is not an attribute-selection tool. Conversely, do not spend a full Reset when a single Sync can address the only unacceptable line.
When a Reset is justified
Reset when the entire line set misses your build
A full reroll makes sense when the item has several incompatible attributes and no line is important enough to protect. For example, if a damage-focused setup receives mostly defensive or irrelevant lines, improving their values with Bind still leaves the build mismatch. Reset addresses the attribute set itself.
Reset when the item is a long-term piece
The material and Kina cost are easier to justify on gear you expect to keep through several upgrades. Before acting, compare the item’s remaining lifespan with the price of a new piece and the possibility of transferring Soul Binding effects later. A short-lived leveling item rarely deserves a costly full reroll unless it is unusually difficult to replace.

If two or more lines are useful and one is not, Sync is the targeted choice described by the system guide. It still involves chance, but it leaves the other lines outside the operation’s stated scope. Reset would add unnecessary exposure to every line.

Delay Reset when you are close to replacing the item
If a new weapon or armor piece is imminent, first investigate Transfer. Spending resources on a full reroll immediately before replacement can be wasteful, especially when the relevant effects can move to the new item under current rules.
What you can lose
The current stat lines
Reset’s clearest loss is the complete current line set. Every line is part of the reroll, including a high-value attribute you would have kept if the game offered a lock function. Screenshot or record the lines before confirming so you can compare the result and document what changed.
A favorable combination
Even if each individual line looks only average, their combination may suit your build. Reset evaluates the whole set again; it does not preserve a “best” line automatically. Decide based on the item as a complete package rather than judging only the line you dislike.
Binding Rate progress and upgraded line values: unresolved
The references reviewed for this guide do not provide a sufficiently explicit answer about whether Reset removes previously invested Binding Rate progress, or whether it removes upgrades to the numerical values on lines. Do not assume either outcome. The only reliable decision point is the item-specific confirmation screen in your current version. If that screen does not explain the resulting state, postpone the action and seek a current official clarification rather than treating a community assumption as a guarantee.

Materials and currency
Reset consumes the materials and Kinah shown for the selected item. Those resources are spent even if the randomized result is worse than the starting set, so include the possibility of a second attempt in your budget.
How much Reset costs
A Corpus guide published October 4, 2026, reports 300,000 Kina plus a Soul Codex: Reset for the Unique gear it checked. That is an observed example, not a universal price list. The PLAYNC Lounge explainer repeats the same figure but identifies itself as AI-generated and advises verification through official channels.
Costs can vary by item, grade, patch or event state. Before you commit, select the exact equipment piece and open its Reset screen. Confirm the displayed Kinah amount, the codex type and quantity, any gear or grade requirement, and whether the action is available on that item at all. Do not use the 300,000-Kina example to calculate the cost of a different grade.
Pre-reset checklist
Use this sequence before pressing the final confirmation button:
- Inspect every line. Mark the attributes you would regret losing and note their current values.
- Identify the actual problem. If only one selected line is unacceptable, compare Sync first. If the whole set is wrong, continue evaluating Reset.
- Check the item’s role. Decide whether the gear is a long-term investment or likely to be replaced soon.
- Open the live Reset panel. Read the exact material and Kinah requirement for this item instead of relying on a guide’s example.
- Read the result warning. Look specifically for language about all lines, Binding Rate, upgraded values and irreversible changes.
- Check your reserve. Keep enough resources for normal progression; a failed roll can leave you weaker while you farm another attempt.
- Capture the starting state. A screenshot of the item and the confirmation text gives you a record if the result differs from your expectation.
- Confirm only after accepting the worst plausible result. Assume that every current line can be replaced and that the new combination may be unusable for your build.
How Transfer changes the decision
NCSOFT’s Season 2 announcement says Transfer can move Soul Binding effects from existing gear to new gear, with each equipment piece transferable up to six times. That makes a near-term replacement less urgent: you may be able to carry useful progress forward instead of rerolling immediately.
A community reference adds an important qualification: base stat lines are said to carry over at their bound values, while the extra line unlocked with Philosopher’s Stones does not transfer. The cited announcement does not spell out that exception, so treat it as a guide-specific claim and verify the current Transfer interface before relying on it.
When deciding between Reset now and waiting for a replacement, check which effects the live Transfer screen lists. If a line you care about will not transfer, that may change the value of rerolling the old item; if it will transfer, preserving a good result may be more important than chasing a perfect one.

Example: one unwanted attribute
Your item has two useful lines and one attribute that does nothing for your class. Reset would expose all three lines to a new roll. Select the unwanted line and investigate Sync requirements instead. The result is still random, but the operation matches the problem’s scope.

Example: three incompatible lines
An item has no attribute your build can use, and you have enough Kinah and Reset material for the displayed cost. A full Reset is the appropriate operation to consider. Check the warning for Binding Rate and line-value treatment before accepting, because those outcomes are not established by the available references.
Example: strong lines on an item you will replace
You have a good set of lines but expect a higher-grade drop shortly. Do not reroll solely because the current item is not final. Review Transfer, including the six-transfer limit announced for each equipment piece and the guide’s warning about the Philosopher’s Stone extra line, then decide whether preserving the current item has more value than gambling on a Reset.
Common mistakes and recovery decisions
Confusing Bind with a reroll
Bind raises existing values; it cannot turn an unwanted attribute into a desired one. If the problem is the attribute itself, stop investing in Bind and compare Sync or Reset.

The 300,000-Kina figure is tied to one Unique item observed in October 2026. If your in-game panel shows a different amount or material, use the panel. A patch-specific guide cannot override the current client.
Skipping the confirmation text
The unresolved Binding Rate question is precisely why the warning matters. If the interface is vague, do not infer that progress is retained or deleted. Record the wording and seek a current official answer before spending rare resources.
Resetting because a line’s number is low
Low magnitude is a Bind problem when the attribute is correct. Resetting for that reason can replace a useful line with an irrelevant one and create a larger problem than the original low value.
Bottom line for 2026
Choose Reset/Rebind only when you are willing to replace the entire Soul Binding line set. Choose Sync when one selected line is the issue, and Bind when the attributes are right but their values need improvement. The strongest documented price example is 300,000 Kina plus Soul Codex: Reset for a checked Unique item, not a universal rate. Before confirming, verify the item-specific cost and the warning about Binding Rate and line-value progress; those retention rules remain unsettled in the available references. If replacement is near, review Transfer first: NCSOFT states a limit of up to six transfers per equipment piece, while the guide’s Philosopher’s Stone exception still needs in-game verification.
