Why are there two Griff release dates?
“Release date” can mean either the first opportunity to unlock Griff or his later availability through Brawl Boxes. Supercell’s official Jurassic Splash release notes say: “Griff Challenge – Beat the challenge to unlock Griff a week early!” The notes establish that the challenge offered early access, but do not give a named speaker or explicitly state the later date.

Was Griff’s post-challenge date confirmed by the game lead?
No attributable statement from game lead Frank Keienburg confirming July 29 is established by the available sources. The July 29 date is supported by the community-maintained chronology, while Supercell’s official notes confirm only that the challenge allowed players to unlock Griff early.
Why does Liquipedia list July 23?
Liquipedia’s Griff page lists July 23, 2021 as his release date. That aligns with the challenge-access date in the community chronology, rather than the later Brawl Boxes availability date. The apparent conflict comes from using “release” for different unlock milestones.
