Asia had the largest share of the 14,162 mapped open video-game roles in Amir Satvat’s August 2024 snapshot, followed by Europe and North America. The count describes vacancies identified at that time—not all people employed in games and not a live count of jobs still open. In March 2025, Satvat reported 14,238 mapped roles after identifying additional companies in Asia, underscoring that both coverage and totals can change.
Where the August 2024 roles were located
Satvat’s August 2024 mapping, reported by GamesBeat, counted 14,162 open roles across the video-game industry. Asia, Europe and North America together accounted for 84% of the mapped roles.
| Continent | Mapped open roles, August 2024 |

| North America | 3,248 |
These are continent-level totals from Satvat’s mapping as reported by GamesBeat in 2024. The figures are a snapshot, not a current vacancy feed.
Countries and cities with the most mapped openings
The largest listed country totals in Satvat’s 2024 figures were the United States, China, England, Canada, Japan and Poland. GamesBeat’s article names only five in its sentence about the leading countries; Satvat’s original post supplies Canada as the sixth.

Remote roles were a minority in the 2024 snapshot
Of the 14,162 mapped roles in August 2024, 1,980 (14%) were classified as remote and 12,182 (86%) as non-remote, according to GamesBeat’s account of Satvat’s data. These proportions belong to that snapshot; they do not establish the remote share of today’s openings.
What changed in the March 2025 update
In March 2025, Satvat reported 14,238 roles, 76 more than the August 2024 total. He attributed the increase to additional game companies in Asia being identified and tabulated. Asia’s share of mapped roles rose from 32% in August 2024 to 43% in March 2025, while the remote share fell from 14% to 10%.

Those changes are useful context, not proof that the industry added exactly 76 jobs or that remote opportunities vanished: the later update specifically points to expanded company coverage. Satvat described the method as tracking roles across more than 3,000 companies and summing opportunities by location. His March 2025 LinkedIn update provides that explanation and the newer totals.

- Use location totals as a starting point. A high city or country count signals more mapped openings in that snapshot, not necessarily better prospects for your role or experience.
- Check location terms on each listing. “Remote” in the map does not answer whether a role is open to applicants in your country, time zone or legal jurisdiction.
- Verify the vacancy with the employer. Check the employer’s current careers page before applying; the map is not a live job-status guarantee.
- Compare the relevant snapshot. The March 2025 update changes the geographic and remote proportions, so avoid presenting the August 2024 counts as current.
How complete and precise are the figures?
Satvat described the mapping as semi-automated, with individual roles mapped and location information extracted at the role level. GamesBeat reported his estimate that version 14 of the mapping process was 95% to 99% accurate. That is Satvat’s reported estimate, not an independent audit; the sources do not provide a reproducible methodology or third-party validation of the percentage.
The August-to-March change illustrates a further limitation: totals depend on which companies and roles have been identified and included. The map is useful for a broad geographic view, but its count should not be read as a complete, independently verified inventory of every game-industry vacancy.
