Where Are Warzone Game Files? Locating Them on PC and Console

Warzone's files sit where the launcher installed them. Here is how to find them on Steam, Battle.net, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and what to check when they seem missing.

On a Windows PC, Warzone’s files are wherever the launcher that installed it placed them. On Steam, the default games folder is C:Program Files (x86)Steamsteamappscommon, but Steam can also use additional library folders on other drives, so that default is not a guarantee. Battle.net does not publish a fixed folder path, so the app itself is the reliable way to find the install. On PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the game is managed by the console and does not appear as a normal folder you can browse.

Where Warzone is installed on Windows

On PC, Warzone is installed through Steam or Battle.net. Each launcher keeps its own record of where the game lives, so the quickest way to find the folder is to start from the launcher rather than searching your drives.

Steam

Steam Support lists C:Program Files (x86)Steamsteamappscommon as the default folder for installed games. Steam also supports moving games into alternate library locations, which means a Warzone install may sit on a different drive. To check where yours is:

  1. Open the Steam client and select Settings > Storage.
  2. Note the default installation drive and every configured library location listed there.
  3. In your Steam library, open the Warzone entry’s installed-files controls to browse to its actual folder.
  4. If Warzone is not in the default path, check the other libraries and drives before assuming the files are missing.

The default path is a starting point for Steam installs in general, not a promise about where your copy of Warzone is. Steam’s own guide to moving installations and games is at https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/4BD4-4528-6B2E-8327.

Battle.net

Activision’s Call of Duty: Warzone installation and setup article describes the Battle.net install flow: open Battle.net and sign in, choose All Games, select Call of Duty: Warzone, then choose Install. The article does not give a default Battle.net folder for the game, so use the app’s game or installation controls to identify where the files are on your PC. The article was last updated on 2 April 2026: https://support.activision.com/warzone-2/articles/warzone-2-installation-and-setup.

If Battle.net no longer recognizes where an installation is, Blizzard Support says to use Locate this game or run the game launcher so the app can find it again. Blizzard’s article on deleting Battle.net files, which notes that the app can forget install locations, is at https://us.support.blizzard.com/en/article/34719.

Where Warzone is stored on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S

Console installs are managed through the console’s own library and storage interface. There is no Windows-style folder to open, and the sources covering this topic do not describe an internal console filesystem path, so none is given here. Use the menus below instead.

  • PlayStation 5: Game Library > Your Collection > Call of Duty: Warzone > Download.
  • Xbox Series X|S: My games & apps > See all > Full library > All owned games > Call of Duty: Warzone > Install all.

Activision’s setup article also states that Call of Duty: Warzone is no longer available to download on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. Players on those consoles who want to check an existing install should look in the console’s own library, not in a Warzone folder.

Why a Call of Duty folder may hold more than Warzone

Call of Duty HQ is a shared launcher across console and PC. Activision says content inside it can be downloaded or removed to adjust storage, so the size and contents of a Call of Duty folder depend on what is installed. Activision’s explainer on Call of Duty HQ, dated 8 November 2023, is at https://www.callofduty.com/blog/2023/11/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-iii-warzone-hq-game-launcher-intel. Do not assume every file in that folder belongs to Warzone. Confirm what is installed from within the launcher.

Platform comparison

Platform Browsable folder? Where the location is set Where to look
Steam (Windows PC) Yes Steam library locations; default C:Program Files (x86)Steamsteamappscommon Settings > Storage, then the Warzone entry’s installed-files controls
Battle.net (Windows PC) Yes; Activision does not publish a fixed path Set during installation on your PC All Games > Call of Duty: Warzone; use Locate this game if the install is not recognized
PlayStation 5 No; managed by the console Console storage Game Library > Your Collection > Call of Duty: Warzone
Xbox Series X|S No; managed by the console Console storage My games & apps > See all > Full library > All owned games

If the files seem to be missing

  • On Steam, check every library listed under Settings > Storage, including drives other than C:.
  • On Battle.net, confirm the game still shows under All Games, then use Locate this game or run the game launcher to re-link the install.
  • On a shared Call of Duty folder, verify the installed content inside the launcher before deleting anything, since other titles and components may be in the same location.
  • On consoles, check the game’s entry in your library rather than searching storage for a file.

What this guide does not cover

The game installation is separate from settings, screenshots and saved data. The Activision, Steam and Blizzard documentation referenced here does not identify a Warzone-specific folder for those items, so do not assume they sit alongside the game files.
