Find the Quest 2 headset serial number
For the headset itself, look on the left side: gently ease the fabric strap connector away from the headset housing. Beneath the connector, under the QR code, you will find the printed serial number.

The connector should be pulled away carefully rather than forced. Do not yank, twist aggressively, scrape, or rub the label. The serial number is located on the left speaker stalk beneath the strap clip.

If you would rather not remove the strap connector, or the headset label is difficult to read, check the mobile app:

- Tap Menu.
- Choose Devices.
- Select your Quest 2 headset.
The headset’s device details should include its serial number. Older documentation and account pages may use the name Oculus Quest 2, while newer Meta materials generally call the same device Meta Quest 2.

Your Meta account
If the headset has previously been set up, sign in to the Meta account associated with it and open the account’s Devices section. This can be useful when the headset is not nearby, although the exact labels and location of account settings may change as Meta updates its services.

The original box
Look for the barcode label on the retail packaging. It includes an S/N entry that may help identify the product. However, do not automatically assume the box number is the same as the number printed on the headset. Packaging and individual device components can carry different identifiers.

Make sure you have the headset number
A Quest 2 set can have several serial numbers:
- The headset has its own serial number.
- The left Touch controller has a separate serial number.
- The right Touch controller has a separate serial number.
- The retail box may show a packaging or product identifier.
If a repair, warranty, return, or support form asks for the headset serial number, use the number printed beneath the headset’s left strap connector or the number shown for the headset in the Meta Quest app. Do not substitute a controller’s number.

How to find a Touch controller’s serial number
Each controller has a different serial number. To find one, remove the controller’s battery cover and take out the battery. The serial number is inside the battery compartment, beneath the battery and below the QR code. Repeat the process separately for the left and right controllers.
You do not need to remove or replace the battery simply to find the number; take normal care not to damage the battery, contacts, or cover while accessing the label.

If the printed serial number is hard to read
- Use bright, indirect light instead of shining a harsh light directly into the label.
- Tilt the exposed strap arm slightly to improve the viewing angle.
- Do not scrape, rub, or clean aggressively over the printed code.
- Copy every character carefully, including letters that may look like numbers.
- Compare the printed number with the entry in the Meta Quest app or account page when possible.
Taking a clear photograph of the label and storing it with your device records can save you from removing the strap connector again. Before submitting the number to support, verify the complete code rather than relying on a partial or blurry copy.

Is the Quest 2 box serial number the same as the headset serial number?
No. The headset, left controller, right controller, and retail box can all have different identifiers. Use the headset label or the headset entry in the Meta Quest app when a support or warranty form requests the headset serial number.
Where are the Quest 2 controller serial numbers?
Remove the controller’s battery cover and take out the battery. Its serial number is inside the battery compartment beneath the battery and below the QR code. Check each controller separately.
