To find a GTA game’s folder in the Rockstar Games Launcher on Windows, open Settings, select the game under My installed games, then choose View installation folder > Open. The folder that opens is the location of that installation; there is no single path that applies to every PC.
Find a Rockstar Launcher installation folder
- Open the Rockstar Games Launcher and select Settings.
- Under My installed games, select the GTA game.
- Choose View installation folder, then Open.
Rockstar documents this route in its game-file troubleshooting instructions. It opens the selected game’s actual install folder, rather than requiring you to guess a drive or directory. If you need the game’s executable, it may be inside a subfolder such as BinariesWin64, depending on the game.
If you installed GTA through Steam
Use Steam to browse a Steam-managed copy: open Library, right-click the game, and select Manage > Browse local files. Rockstar says Steam continues to manage installation and updates for Steam copies, even if they appear in the Rockstar Games Launcher; Steam must be running for updates. See Rockstar’s instructions for adding Steam and non-Steam installations.
Make the Launcher find an existing installation
If the game is already on your PC but is not listed as installed in the Rockstar Games Launcher, use its scan option:

- Open Settings and select General.
- Choose Scan PC for supported installs, then Scan Now.
Rockstar says Steam installations appear in My Library with a Play on Steam label; supported non-Steam installations appear as Play on Disk. The scan identifies supported existing installs—it does not mean the Launcher manages a Steam copy’s installation or updates.

Rockstar lists C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonGrand Theft Auto V as a default GTAV Steam folder in its language-change instructions. Treat that as an example for GTAV installed through Steam, not a universal GTA path: a different Steam library, storefront, game, or chosen install location can use another folder. The launcher’s View installation folder control—or Steam’s Browse local files for a Steam copy—is the reliable way to see the location on your machine.
