The Great Turtle is not a confirmed current Fortnite location. A community-maintained Fortnite reference reports that the Chapter 6 landmark was removed from the map on November 1, 2025. The old guides describe where it used to appear, but those locations are historical—not reliable directions for a current match.
Is the Great Turtle still in Fortnite?
Fortnite Wiki’s community-maintained entry reports that The Great Turtle was removed on November 1, 2025. Epic’s Fortnite news page lists updates from later in 2026, but the reviewed page does not confirm that the landmark returned. Check the live in-game map rather than heading to an old location expecting to find it.
The removal date comes from a community-maintained source, so treat it as a reported status rather than an official Epic announcement.
Where did the Great Turtle appear?
When the landmark was in the game, it could appear in different places around the island rather than at one fixed point. Historical guides place it around the Lost Lake and Whiffy Wharf region and describe other possible positions. Their counts differ: GamesRadar’s guide lists six possible locations, while ONE Esports describes seven. The guides reflect different updates, so their maps should not be combined into one definitive set.

In historical footage or an older match, look for a large, green, tree-covered shell that can resemble an island. GamesRadar says players could scan for it from the Battle Bus. That spotting advice applies to the landmark when it was present; it does not confirm a current spawn.
What happened at the turtle?
A former quest described by GamesRadar sent players to land on the turtle, meet Ryuji, and clear five glowing Dark Magic Thorns from its shell. The guide says the thorns could be broken with a pickaxe or another damaging attack, after which players returned to Ryuji for a reward chest. That is historical quest guidance, not confirmation that the quest is playable now.
Fortnite Wiki attributes this line to Ryūji: “We have banished the dark thorns that menaced The Great Turtle and located his lost love!” It is a historical in-game line, not evidence of a present-day appearance.

Why old turtle maps may disagree
The six-location and seven-location counts come from guides covering different updates. Because the landmark’s possible appearance varied, a map from one guide may not match another guide—or Fortnite’s current island. Use those maps as historical references only.
