The Haunted Castle is an island in the Third Sea. To find it, travel to Castle on the Sea, look for a flag surrounded by large walls, and move toward that area if the island does not appear right away. You can only reach the Third Sea after meeting several Second Sea requirements, so players who are still in earlier sections need to finish that progression first.
How to find the Haunted Castle from Castle on the Sea
Castle on the Sea is the navigation reference point for this island. It sits at the center of the Third Sea, so once you have arrived there, the Haunted Castle is found by looking for its landmarks rather than by reading coordinates. The community wiki describes the target as a flag surrounded by large walls.
- Sail or travel to Castle on the Sea in the Third Sea.
- Look around the surrounding water for a flag planted within large enclosing walls.
- If you cannot see the island from where you are, continue toward the surrounding area. The wiki notes that the Haunted Castle may not render until you are fairly close, so distance alone does not mean you are in the wrong place.
Because the island appears only at close range, a long look from the Castle on the Sea area can give the impression that it is missing. Move closer before assuming it is not there.
Getting into the Third Sea first
Players who have not reached the Third Sea cannot use the route above yet. The community wiki lists these requirements:

After the King Red Head quest, you are teleported to the Café. Talk to Mr. Captain at the Green Zone docks, and he teleports you to Port Town. These steps reflect the wiki’s account and may change with later game updates, so confirm them in-game if something does not match.
What the Haunted Castle is used for
The island is described as a ship-like island with a listed level range of 1975–2075. Its quest givers assign groups of eight enemies, and the enemy group rises with level:

The wiki also lists the Death King, Gravestone, and Ghosts among the island’s NPCs, and it identifies Soul Reaper as the island’s raid boss.
Other reasons players go to the island
The wiki says the Haunted Castle is where the Skull Guitar Puzzle can be started and completed. The puzzle involves a blue-flame altar; placing Hallow Essence on that altar summons Soul Reaper. Players who are chasing the puzzle or the boss are the most likely to search for this island specifically.
