The figures below come from the official Steam listing, checked on 18 October 2026. Minimum means the configuration the publisher lists as the entry point; it is not a promise of a particular frame rate, resolution or graphics preset. Recommended is a stronger target, but the listing still does not specify an FPS goal.

What each requirement means
Windows 11, 64-bit
Both tiers specify the same operating system: 64-bit Windows 11. The listing does not list Windows 10 as supported, so a Windows 10 installation should be treated as outside the published compatibility target rather than assumed to work. “64-bit” also rules out 32-bit Windows editions, even if the processor itself is capable of running 64-bit software.

To check your edition, open Settings > System > About and look at Windows specifications and System type. If the system type is 32-bit, it does not meet the stated requirement. Windows 11 updates can also affect driver and DirectX components, so install pending updates before diagnosing a launch problem.
Processor: four listed models
The minimum CPU options are Intel Core i5-10400 and AMD Ryzen 5 5500. The recommended options are Intel Core i5-12400 and AMD Ryzen 5 5600. These are reference points, not a statement that every processor with the same brand, clock speed or core count will behave identically. Laptop chips, older desktop generations and heavily power-limited systems can perform differently from the desktop models named in the listing.
If your processor is newer but not listed, compare its real-world class rather than its model number alone. A system that falls clearly below the minimum class may launch yet struggle with frame-time consistency, especially while other applications are open. A processor at or above the recommended class gives more headroom, but it still cannot compensate for a graphics card below the minimum tier.

Graphics card and DirectX 12
The minimum graphics choices are a GeForce GTX 1660 with 6 GB of VRAM or a Radeon RX 6600 with 8 GB. The recommended choices are a GeForce RTX 3060 with 8 GB or a Radeon RX 6700 XT. The Steam page requires DirectX 12 in both tiers.
VRAM capacity is part of the published specification, but capacity alone does not determine performance. A card can have enough memory and still be slower than the listed class. Check the exact GPU model in Settings > System > Display > Advanced display or by running dxdiag and opening the Display tab. The DirectX version shown by dxdiag should include DirectX 12; the card and its driver must also expose the features the game needs.

Memory: 16 GB in both tiers
Sixteen gigabytes of system RAM is required for minimum and recommended configurations alike. That means adding memory is not a separate “recommended-only” improvement in this listing. Close browsers, recording software and other memory-heavy programs if the game reports allocation errors or if Windows begins paging heavily. Do not confuse system RAM with GPU VRAM: the requirement lists both separately.
SSD storage
An SSD is explicitly required for both tiers, not merely suggested. The store asks for 5 GB of available space. A hard disk may have enough capacity but still fail the published storage requirement because the requirement includes the drive type. An SSD also avoids the long seek times associated with mechanical disks during installation and asset loading.
Minimum versus recommended: how to read the table
The processor and graphics columns are the only performance tiers that change. Operating system, RAM, DirectX 12 and SSD requirements are identical. Therefore, upgrading from the minimum to the recommended target is primarily a CPU/GPU decision, not a reason to buy more memory or a larger drive solely for this demo.
- At the minimum tier: expect to spend time adjusting resolution or quality if the default settings are too demanding. The published requirements do not identify a target frame rate.
- At the recommended tier: you have the hardware class the publisher wants players to target, but no guaranteed preset, resolution or FPS is stated.
- Below minimum: launch success and playability are uncertain. A newer API-compatible card with less raw performance, or an older CPU with similar specifications on paper, should not be treated as equivalent without testing.
These are system requirements, not an independent benchmark. No source publishes frame-rate measurements, resolution targets, graphics presets or comparative testing for the demo, so it would be misleading to promise 60 FPS or a particular visual setting from this table alone.
How much space the demo actually uses
Published requirement versus depot measurements
Steam’s store requirement is 5 GB of free space. SteamDB’s Windows demo depot record measures approximately 1.50 GiB to download and 1.65 GiB installed. GiB is a binary unit, so it is not numerically identical to the decimal GB label used by many drive manufacturers and storefronts.

The difference between the depot measurements and the 5 GB store figure is not itemized by the available sources. It can cover installation workspace, updates or platform overhead, but no exact breakdown is published. For that reason, do not plan around only 1.65 GiB even if that is the measured installed depot size. Leave the full 5 GB free, preferably with additional room for Windows and Steam to operate normally.

- In Steam, open Settings > Storage and select the library drive where you intend to install the demo.
- Confirm that the drive is an SSD and that the available-space figure is at least 5 GB.
- If space is tight, remove an unused game or move an installed title to another library before starting the download.
- Keep Steam open until installation finishes; a download that fits may still fail if the drive fills during unpacking.
Installing the demo and checking your PC first
- Open the demo’s Steam store page and choose the option to add or install the free demo.
- Select an SSD library with at least 5 GB available, then start the download.
- Before launching, verify Windows by opening Settings > System > About; confirm 64-bit Windows 11 and 16 GB of installed RAM.
- Run
dxdiagfrom the Windows search box to review the DirectX version and display adapter. Compare the adapter with the listed GTX 1660/RX 6600 minimum class or RTX 3060/RX 6700 XT recommended class. - Install current graphics drivers from your GPU manufacturer if Windows reports a driver problem, then restart the PC.
- Launch the demo from Steam. If Steam reports missing or damaged files, open the demo’s Properties > Installed Files page and choose Verify integrity of game files.
Can you run it on Windows 10?
The official listing specifies Windows 11, 64-bit, for both minimum and recommended configurations and does not list Windows 10. That is the only published compatibility statement available here. A Windows 10 user may find that the executable starts, but that would be an unsupported outcome rather than a confirmed requirement. Upgrading the operating system is the clearest way to align with the stated target.
Controller support
SteamDB marks the demo as having full controller support and gamepad preferred. Its metadata specifically lists DualShock Controllers and DualSense Controllers when connected by USB. The available listing information does not provide wireless requirements, button layouts or detailed keyboard-and-mouse mappings.
For a wired controller, connect it before launching and check Steam Input if the game does not respond. In Steam, open the demo’s controller settings from the library and review the selected layout. If a controller is not detected, reconnect it directly to the PC, test another USB port and restart Steam before troubleshooting the game itself. These steps address connection and input-layer issues; they do not change the published hardware requirements.

Steam says there is not enough space
Free space is measured on the selected Steam library drive, not across all drives in the computer. Confirm that the library is on an SSD and that at least 5 GB is available there. Pause other downloads, remove or move an unused installation, and retry. If the drive has exactly 5 GB free, create more headroom because Steam may need temporary working space during installation.

The game will not launch or reports a graphics error
Check the Windows edition, run dxdiag, and confirm DirectX 12 is present. Then update the graphics driver, reboot and verify the demo files in Steam. If the GPU is below the listed GTX 1660/RX 6600 class, the issue may be a hardware compatibility limitation rather than a damaged install.
Performance is inconsistent
Close background applications and watch both system RAM and GPU usage. A machine that meets the minimum specification can still need lower in-game settings, but the publisher has not supplied a recommended resolution or frame-rate target. Treat any settings adjustment as a practical experiment rather than a guaranteed fix.
The controller is connected but unusable
Use a USB connection because the metadata explicitly identifies USB for the listed DualShock and DualSense support. Confirm that Steam sees the device, select an appropriate Steam Input layout, then relaunch the demo. If the game still ignores input, test with only one controller connected to rule out conflicting devices.
Demo scope and availability
The Steam description presents a setting in which Blight has afflicted Earth and humanity builds new homes on the branches of the World Tree. It also describes a densely packed narrative experience that can be finished in about three hours. That duration is a publisher statement, not an independently timed test.

A practical upgrade decision
- Already on Windows 11 with 16 GB RAM, an SSD and a minimum-class GPU: install the demo and adjust settings only if playability requires it.
- Have the recommended CPU but a below-minimum GPU: prioritize the graphics card; the CPU alone does not satisfy the graphics requirement.
- Have the minimum GPU but a below-minimum CPU: the processor remains the limiting published component, even if the graphics card has enough VRAM.
- Have Windows 10 or a mechanical hard drive: those do not match the official operating-system or storage-drive requirements, regardless of CPU and GPU speed.
- Need more room: reserve 5 GB on the SSD library drive, not merely the measured 1.65 GiB depot footprint.
In short, the demo is a relatively small download but has firm platform requirements: 64-bit Windows 11, DirectX 12, 16 GB RAM and an SSD are baseline conditions, while the GTX 1660/RX 6600 and i5-10400/Ryzen 5 5500 class defines the minimum performance tier. The RTX 3060/RX 6700 XT and i5-12400/Ryzen 5 5600 class is the publisher’s recommended target, with no independent FPS guarantee attached.
