In Crimson Desert, you cook at an in-world cooking pot, a cooking area, or a bonfire or campfire. Third-party location guides name a cooking pot beside the butcher stand in Hernand Town and a dedicated cooking area at Greymane Camp, and they describe open-world bonfires and campfires as usable stations. Once you’re at a station, approach it, press Focus, and choose Cook.

The Epic Games Store guide puts the basic requirement in one line: “Once you have your ingredients, you have to find a cooking pot or a campfire.” If you have ingredients but no station is in sight, the answer is to keep moving toward a settlement or rest point rather than to look for a separate cooking item.
How to start a meal at a station
- Collect the ingredients for the dish you want. Cooking is only available once you have ingredients in your inventory.
- Walk up to a cooking pot, cooking area, bonfire, or campfire.
- Press Focus on the station. The third-party guide lists the default Focus input as L1 (LB on Xbox-style controllers) on a controller, or CTRL on keyboard.
- Choose Cook from the prompt to open the cooking menu.
- Select a recipe. The menu shows the recipes you know, so a recipe you have not learned will not be available to cook.
Custom control settings may change these inputs. If Focus does not appear on a station, check your remapped bindings in the game’s control menu before assuming the station is missing.

Renee’s Request: cooking early in Hernand
Renee’s Request is the early quest where the courtyard bonfire is the most useful station. According to PC Gamer’s walkthrough dated March 19, 2026, Renee supplies the ingredients and the fish porridge recipe. The sequence the guide describes is:
- Open your inventory and learn the fish porridge recipe before you leave the area.
- Go to the bonfire in the courtyard beside her Butchery in Hernand.
- Choose a recipe whose ingredients you have in sufficient quantity. The guide advises picking the recipe your current ingredients can actually cover.
Because the bonfire is in the same courtyard as the quest giver, it is the simplest place to complete the cooking step without travelling across town.

- The town, camp, and bonfire locations come from third-party guides, not from an official game manual. Treat them as reliable directions for the current build, but not as official documentation.
- The sources did not establish exact coordinates for any station, so use the in-game map and the named landmark (the butcher stand, the Greymane cooking area, or the courtyard by Renee’s Butchery) to locate each one.
- No source gave a complete list of every cooking station in the game. The table covers the stations named in the available guides, not every possible fire or pot.
