In a standard Terraria world, look for Goblin Scouts during the day in the farthest east or west sixth of the map. Their spawn location must not be sand or a block infected by Corruption, Crimson, or Hallow. A Battle Potion and Water Candle can improve your chances of encountering this uncommon enemy; neither guarantees a spawn.
Where Goblin Scouts spawn in a standard world
Goblin Scouts spawn on the surface near the world’s far eastern or western edge: specifically, within the outermost sixth of the map. Searching around the center does not meet this distance requirement. They appear during daytime, and the tile where a Scout spawns cannot be sand or infected by Corruption, Crimson, or Hallow. How to make a Scout easier to find
- Search both eligible outer areas. Try the far east or far west, then move along suitable surface terrain if you do not find one.
- Increase enemy spawns. The Official Terraria Wiki recommends using a Battle Potion and Water Candle together for this uncommon enemy. This is a spawn aid, not a guaranteed encounter or a verified rate per hour. Official Terraria Wiki: Goblin Scout

- Check world progression. In a standard world, destroying at least one Shadow Orb or Crimson Heart before defeating the Goblin Army improves the documented spawn chance. The wiki describes the odds as approximate and notes that actual observed rates vary; its code-derived figures are for Desktop 1.4.5.8, not verified here across every platform. Why the usual location may not work in a special seed
Goblin Scout spawn locations change in certain world seeds, so the standard outer-sixth surface rule does not apply unchanged:
- Celebration Mk 10: Scouts spawn on the surface at least one third of the world width away from the Ocean spawn.
- Remix: Scouts can spawn anywhere in the Cavern layer, and the distance restriction from the world spawn is bypassed.
- “How did I get here”: Scouts may spawn anywhere relative to the original spawn point.

What Goblin Scouts drop
Each Goblin Scout drops one or two Tattered Cloth, with a listed 100% drop rate. Tattered Cloth is used to craft a Goblin Battle Standard, which summons a Goblin Army. Official Terraria Wiki: Goblin Scout
