The clearest documented route is to mine iron on New Start (Map #0), then unlock the dock/airship and travel to Tiny Start (Map #2) for copper. Each island has one listed ore patch in the map database. Exact coordinates, respawn behavior, yields, and compatibility with patches newer than version 1.0.5 are not established, so use the island names as search anchors rather than guaranteed waypoints.
The two documented ore locations
A Solarpunk Game Wiki map database lists a fixed Iron Ore patch on New Start (Map #0) and a fixed Copper Ore patch on Tiny Start (Map #2). Those are the strongest location-level references currently available for the two metals.

This is a location guide, not a timed speed test. No source supplies mining times, ore-per-minute rates, or a measured comparison proving that either patch is the fastest possible farm. “Easily” here means the route has a documented island target and a clear progression path, not that the game guarantees a particular yield or travel time.

Iron: search New Start (Map #0) first
Why New Start is the practical early target
New Start is the documented starting-island location for iron. Because the patch is listed on Map #0, you can begin looking before arranging an inter-island trip. Early iron is useful for progression, so mine what you need for required research, tools, transport, and other immediate unlocks before spending the same material on optional decoration.

The location record identifies the island and resource but does not identify a shoreline, elevation, compass bearing, landmark, or coordinate. Do not follow a made-up direction from the starting point. Instead, treat the island as a search area and inspect terrain systematically.
A systematic New Start search
- Open or otherwise confirm that you are on New Start (Map #0), rather than assuming every starting layout is identical.
- Make one circuit around accessible terrain, checking exposed rock groups and paths between major structures.
- Search interior areas and the far side of the island before concluding that the patch is absent; the published row contains no landmark that narrows the search.
- Mine the iron node manually once found and keep enough inventory space for the drops.
- Record the visual surroundings in your own save so the patch is easy to revisit; the database does not publish a coordinate you can rely on.
How much iron should you keep?
No cited source establishes a reserve quantity, a recipe-by-recipe iron budget, or a respawn interval. The safe planning rule is to reserve early iron for progression and only then use surplus for cosmetic construction. If a recipe consumes the last of your stock, return to the patch rather than assuming another island is required: the documented New Start entry is specifically intended as an early anchor.
Copper: reach Tiny Start (Map #2)
Why copper usually comes later
A Steam Community reply describes copper as generally unavailable on the starter island and says access opens after the dock/airship step, when nearby islands become reachable. Prima Games gives compatible progression context: research the Furnace before the Dock (Airship), then use the airship route to reach the copper island. These are player and guide explanations rather than official developer documentation, so treat them as practical guidance rather than an immutable quest requirement.

The map database lists one Copper Ore patch on Tiny Start (Map #2). Prima Games also reports that the copper island is visible from the starting island, which can help you recognize the intended destination once travel is unlocked. Visibility is a navigation clue, not a promise that every world seed, graphics setting, or later patch will display it from the same spot.
Step-by-step route to the copper patch
- Mine enough New Start iron to support your immediate progression instead of spending the entire supply on optional projects.
- Advance the research path to the Furnace, following the progression order described by Prima Games.
- Continue to the Dock (Airship) stage. The Steam Community guidance places copper access after this travel milestone.
- Use the airship to travel among the nearby floating islands and identify Tiny Start (Map #2).
- Search Tiny Start for its listed Copper Ore patch. No published coordinate or landmark narrows the search, so inspect the whole accessible island.
- Mine copper manually until you have enough for the next upgrade or recipe, then leave room for additional ore drops and return-trip supplies.
If Tiny Start is not immediately obvious
Check the map label and travel interface rather than guessing from an island’s appearance. The evidence identifies Tiny Start by map number, not by a distinctive shape or compass heading. If the island is visible but cannot be selected, confirm that the Dock (Airship) progression is complete and that the airship travel interaction is available in your current save.
Manual mining and the later Drill
Before automation, the reliable method is to stand at the ore patch and mine it yourself. The sources do not provide a comparative time measurement, tool-durability test, or yield table that would justify calling manual mining faster or slower than another method.

When the powered Drill becomes relevant
Prima Games reports that a later Drill can automate ore mining when it is powered. Once that technology is available, a patch on New Start or Tiny Start can become a repeatable collection point instead of a one-off gathering stop. The guide does not state the Drill’s production rate, power consumption, capacity, range, or operating time, so do not plan around a guaranteed hourly output.

| Powered Drill | An ore patch after the later technology unlock | Drill access and a power supply | Prima Games reports automated mining; no sourced rate or capacity |
Choosing where to automate
Place a powered Drill only after confirming that the node is the intended ore patch and that your power setup is stable. A Drill at Tiny Start reduces repeated manual trips if copper is your bottleneck; a Drill at New Start is more convenient if iron is consumed continuously by your current build. Because the sources do not compare travel times or output, choose based on your actual recipe demand and how often you are already visiting each island.
A practical farming loop
Early game: establish iron first
- Locate the New Start patch before committing materials to nonessential construction.
- Mine a working supply, then check which progression step consumes iron next.
- Keep a written or visual landmark in your own save because no public coordinate is supplied.
- Return to the patch when your stock falls instead of searching unrelated islands for an unverified alternative.
After airship access: combine copper trips with other errands
- Travel to Tiny Start when you already need to visit nearby islands, reducing unnecessary airship departures.
- Mine the documented copper patch manually while you are there.
- Use the return trip to carry back the amount your next confirmed recipe requires; no source supports a universal “full inventory” target.
- Revisit the island or install a powered Drill later if copper remains a recurring requirement.
Keep the route resilient
Save before a long trip, leave enough capacity for ore, and avoid treating a single run as proof of a respawn rule. The resource database describes fixed ore patches as useful planning anchors and includes an Ore Rock drop table, but it does not establish how quickly a mined patch returns or whether every node is infinite. Build your loop around observed availability in your own version.

How to search an island without coordinates
Both published rows omit precise coordinates. A repeatable search pattern is therefore more useful than a guessed heading.
- Start at the arrival point and identify the island’s outer boundary.
- Walk the perimeter in one direction, checking exposed rock and any side paths.
- Divide the interior into lanes and sweep them one at a time so covered areas are not skipped.
- Check behind structures, height changes, and less-traveled edges before abandoning the search.
- Compare the ore’s appearance with the resource name shown by your interaction prompt, rather than relying only on color at a distance.
- Once found, mark the surrounding geometry in your notes or screenshots for future runs.
This method avoids inventing a compass direction that the location data does not support. It also works if a visual landmark moves slightly between world variants.
Version, map-variant, and evidence limits
The dated reference point
The resource database snapshot is identified as version 1.0.5 and was checked July 14, 2026. The map entries were checked July 11, 2026. Those dates matter: a later patch may move, rename, add, or remove an ore patch, and the cited pages do not establish compatibility beyond the snapshot they describe.

What the entries prove—and what they do not
- They provide island-level anchors: one listed iron patch on New Start and one listed copper patch on Tiny Start.
- They do not provide coordinates, a guaranteed route from the airship dock, or a landmark visible in every world.
- They do not establish a respawn timer, infinite regeneration, a fixed drop quantity, or a universal yield per trip.
- They do not prove that no other iron or copper deposits exist elsewhere.
- The copper progression advice comes from a Steam Community reply and a Prima Games guide, not a cited official developer progression chart.
Check before relying on an old location
Look at your game’s version number before planning a large construction project around these patches. If you are on a version later than 1.0.5, treat the island names as historical guidance until you confirm the node in your own save. If the game has generated a different map variant, the same caution applies even when the island label remains familiar.
Troubleshooting common problems
“I searched New Start and found no iron.”
- Confirm the map label is New Start (Map #0).
- Repeat a full perimeter and interior sweep; the published entry gives no coordinate.
- Check that you are looking for an ore interaction rather than ordinary decorative rock.
- Verify your game version against the 1.0.5 reference snapshot.
- If the patch is still absent, record the world/map variant before assuming the database entry applies unchanged.
“I cannot find copper on my starter island.”
That result is consistent with the Steam Community guidance that copper generally is not a starter-island material. Progress to the Dock (Airship), then search nearby islands and specifically Tiny Start (Map #2).
“I can see an island but cannot reach it.”
Seeing the copper island from the starting island is a navigation clue reported by Prima Games, not proof that travel is already unlocked. Confirm Furnace research, the Dock (Airship) milestone, and an operational airship interaction before troubleshooting the destination itself.
Recommended Free Tools
“My Drill is not mining.”
- Confirm that the Drill is the later powered model described by Prima Games.
- Check that it is placed at the intended ore patch.
- Verify that the Drill has power and that the node is still present.
- Do not infer a bug from a slow first collection cycle; no published source supplies a production interval.
Planning around your actual demand
Use the documented locations as anchors, then let your build determine the order of visits. If iron is blocking your next research or transport unlock, prioritize repeated New Start runs. Once copper is required, make Tiny Start part of your airship itinerary rather than repeatedly searching the starter island. If both materials are needed, separate them into clearly labeled storage so a copper trip does not consume the iron reserved for progression.
Because no source gives recipe totals, a universal stockpile number would be misleading. Instead, inspect the next confirmed recipe or research requirement, mine that amount plus a modest buffer you can justify from your own play, and reassess after the unlock. This avoids presenting an invented reserve target as a game rule.
Quick route checklist
- Start on New Start (Map #0) and search the island for the listed Iron Ore patch.
- Reserve early iron for progression before decorative spending.
- Research the Furnace and progress to the Dock (Airship) stage.
- Travel to nearby islands and identify Tiny Start (Map #2).
- Search Tiny Start for its listed Copper Ore patch and mine it manually.
- When the later powered Drill is available, consider automating the patch that matches your recurring demand.
- Check your game version; the cited map/resource references are version 1.0.5 snapshots checked in July 2026.
- Treat coordinates, respawn rules, infinite nodes, yields, and post-1.0.5 behavior as unconfirmed unless your own game establishes them.
Source context
Solarpunk is a survival game set among floating islands, with airship travel to distant islands. Steam lists Cyberwave as developer, rokaplay and Metaroot as publishers, and June 8, 2026 as the release date. The island and resource locations above come from the Solarpunk Game Wiki map and resource databases; the progression and Drill details are supported by a Steam Community discussion and a Prima Games guide. None of those references supplies a measured farming-rate comparison, so the route is best understood as the clearest documented path rather than a proven fastest one.
