For the ordinary Rage of Harrogath, Diablo 4’s current official sources do not identify a boss you can target-farm. Lord Zir is no longer the answer: Blizzard removed the item from his target-farming pool in the 2.0 PTR notes. Lair Bosses can still provide generic random loot, but Blizzard does not name one as a better source for this Unique. If you want its Chaos Armor form, defeat Bartuc on Torment III or IV; that guarantees a Chaos Armor drop, not Rage of Harrogath specifically.
Can you target-farm ordinary Rage of Harrogath?
Not at a named boss, based on the current official sources reviewed. Blizzard’s 2.0 PTR notes explicitly removed Rage of Harrogath from Lord Zir’s target-farming pool. Older guides that recommend Zir for this item are outdated on that point.
Blizzard’s current Season of Hell’s Legacy information says Lair Bosses drop their own specific loot pools plus generic random loot. That makes their Hoards one possible route for random Uniques, but it does not establish a particular Lair Boss as a Rage of Harrogath target.
Best route depends on which version you want

How to pursue each goal
For the ordinary Unique
- Do not spend boss materials on Lord Zir specifically expecting a targeted Rage of Harrogath drop.
- Keep pursuing general Unique drops through activities you already play. If you run Lair Bosses, their generic random loot can be another opportunity, but no boss is confirmed as the better choice for this item.
- Check current in-game loot descriptions and Blizzard patch notes before following older farming advice; target pools and seasonal systems can change.
For the Chaos Armor version
- Set the difficulty to Torment III or Torment IV.
- Defeat Bartuc. Blizzard’s Season of Infernal Chaos article says: “To earn Chaos Armor, defeat Bartuc in Torment III and IV for a guaranteed drop.”
- Check the drop: the guarantee is for a Chaos Armor item. Rage of Harrogath is listed among Barbarian Chaos Uniques, but the source does not promise that specific item for each Bartuc kill.
What is not known about the drop
The official sources reviewed do not publish an item-specific drop chance, a reliable runs-per-hour comparison, or a fastest ordinary farming route. Treat any precise probability or claim that one Lair Boss is the most efficient Rage of Harrogath farm as unconfirmed unless a current source supports it. The seasonal Chaos Armor route has a stated activity-level guarantee, but that guarantee applies to the armor category rather than this specific Unique.

The Season of Hell’s Legacy article links to patch 3.2.1, while the Chaos Armor guidance is from Season of Infernal Chaos and Lord Zir’s removal is documented in the 2.0 PTR notes. Since these loot systems are patch-sensitive, confirm current in-game details after later updates.
