There are 15 AutoDoc compression coils to collect in Golden Ridge for the optional “Hazard a Gas” quest. Speak to Sr. Contract Medicalist Cormier at Outpost Opportunity to start it, then search the eight areas below and return the coils to her. One walkthrough also reports that picking up a coil in the wild can start the quest automatically.
Start “Hazard a Gas” and track your progress
Find Sr. Contract Medicalist Cormier at Outpost Opportunity and speak to her about the coils. A guide also reports that collecting a coil before speaking with her can trigger the quest. Check the quest log as you search; the locations are grouped and numbered differently across walkthroughs, so use landmarks and your collected total rather than relying on another guide’s numbering.
All 15 coil locations in Golden Ridge
This route follows the eight-area grouping reported by GamesRecon. Counts in parentheses are the coils at each area.
- Southwest of Matriarch’s Mercy (2): Search the green drop pod near the southern cliffs.
- West of Alexandra Station (3): Follow the northeast cliffside ledge toward a spider den. Check the pod at the back of the cave.
- Elevated tram platform east of the Decommissioned Autonomous Extractorium (2): Follow the tracks east to the higher plateau, cross the rail gaps with the P.A.L.E. double-jump boots, then continue through the rocks to the ruined platform. A Mega Mantisaur guards the pod.
- Northwest of the Scrapper’s Den fast-travel point (1): Look for a green pod among the rusted junk piles.
- Westernmost Golden Ridge, west of the Extractorium (1): Follow the rocky trail to a pod partly sunk beside broken machinery.
- Verachnid cave west of Fort Endurance (3): Two coils are inside the pod; the third is beside a corpse. Verachnids are in the cave.
- East-northeast slope from Fort Endurance, in the Zyranium field (2): Search the gas-filled area. GamesRecon recommends bringing the Gas-Energy Deflection Apparatus.
- Near the Science Outpost (1): From the trenches, climb north through the rocky cliffs to a ledge with a pod. Mantisaurs may be nearby.
The area groupings differ in walkthroughs from NoobFeed and Attract Mode. Their descriptions include other landmark groupings, so don’t assume their location numbers map one-to-one to the route above.

Use scouting data to find pod crash sites
At the northern Fort Endurance watchtower, a soldier’s scouting-network terminal can reportedly mark most drop-pod crash sites if your Hack skill is high enough. Otherwise, the soldier can sell the information. GamesRecon estimates that the data reveals roughly 13 of the 15 locations, so plan to search for the remaining coils yourself.
Plan for hazards and traversal
- Toxic gas: The Zyranium field northeast of Fort Endurance is gas-filled; the GamesRecon route recommends the Gas-Energy Deflection Apparatus.
- Hostile creatures: Expect Verachnids in the cave west of Fort Endurance, a Mega Mantisaur near the elevated tram-platform pod, and possible Mantisaurs near the Science Outpost route. Another walkthrough flags mines and hostile creatures in a crystal cave.
- Rail gaps: The elevated tram-platform route requires P.A.L.E. double-jump boots to cross the gaps.
Return the coils to Cormier
Bring the collected coils back to Medicalist Cormier at Outpost Opportunity. GamesRecon reports that she accepts them all at once or in batches of five, with each batch repairing an AutoDoc. Attract Mode lists 270 XP for collecting, 1,260 XP for completing the quest, one Trauma Kit, 500 Bit Cartridges, and Sentience as rewards; those figures are guide-reported rather than independently verified.
