The fragments are spread across six Kepler areas: the Caldera, Outer Steppes, the Gorge, Exile’s Accord, Central Academy, and the Singularity.
Those location details come from guides published in 2025. A June 2026 report about a broad catalyst update did not establish whether Graviton Spike’s refit names, tier requirements, or fragment locations changed. Confirm the refit names and requirements in game before you follow an older walkthrough.

Before you start: confirm the weapon quest is active
Graviton Spike’s catalyst hunt depends on the weapon’s quest being in your progress. If the quest is missing, a Bungie forum reply to a player in that position suggested the following checks. This is community troubleshooting, not official documentation.
- Make sure the Edge of Fate campaign quest is fully completed.
- Claim any campaign or Kepler triumphs that are unlocked but unclaimed.
- Check Lodi, and check the quest kiosk in the Tower for an abandoned quest.
The same reply said side quests are unrelated to the exotic quest, so you do not need to finish them to unlock Graviton Spike’s catalysts.

Choose the right Kepler World Tier
The tier you launch determines which two refits you can collect. The 2025 guides split them as follows.

Across all four refits, that is twelve fragment pickups in total. The guides do not compare completion times or measured difficulty between the two tiers, so choose based on which refits you want first and how comfortable you are with the Mythic combat challenge.
Where the fragments are
The most detailed area-level index is a community video guide dated July 16, 2025, which credits community discovery. It is an index of areas and refits, not a room-by-room route. For exact interaction steps, follow a current visual walkthrough.

The index does not list every piece position or the exact spot inside each area, so the table above is a starting map rather than a complete checklist. Pieces are not listed for each refit count in the video description, so track your own total of three per refit as you go.
The four refits
The perk descriptions below come from a fan-maintained Destiny database (D2 Wiki). The wording may differ from the in-game text, so check the exact effect on the weapon before you rely on it.
Rapid Hit
Rapid precision hits temporarily increase stability and reload speed. Requires three fragments, collected on Fabled.

Subsistence
Final blows partially reload the magazine from reserves. Requires three fragments, collected on Fabled.
Transcendent Zen
Final blows grant bonus stats based on the weapon’s damage-type alignment. Requires three fragments, collected on Mythic.

Choose a refit by its effect only after you have confirmed the current text. Without a defined build or playstyle, no refit is established as the best choice.

GameSpot reports that Graviton Spike can be upgraded at the Enclave once the required upgrades are complete. A Bungie forum discussion reports that catalyst pieces are tracked separately and slotted during reshaping. Treat that second point as player-reported. When you reach the reshape screen, check the Gravitic Doctorate triumph and the weapon’s reshape options to confirm the refit names and what each one needs.
If an expected fragment does not appear
A Bungie Help thread from September 2025 reports a Temporal Alignment pickup that did not appear at its expected location. Bungie support asked for a video clip to investigate. That thread shows the report existed. It does not show whether the problem is still active or has been fixed.
