There are three microchips in Blue Prince. One is already sitting in the holder at the center of Blackbridge Grotto, the second is inside a vase on the west side of the Entrance Hall, and the third is buried in the ground on the West Path, just to the right of the bridge. The vase needs a Sledge Hammer or equivalent tool, and the buried chip needs a Shovel or equivalent. Those are in-game tools, not items you would buy in the real world.
The three chips at a glance
| Chip | Size | Where it starts | Tool needed | If it is lost before you place it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Grotto chip | Smallest | Holder at the center of Blackbridge Grotto, available when the room is open | None | If taken and not secured before the day ends, it respawns in that holder |
| Entrance Hall chip | Middle | Inside the vase on the west side of the Entrance Hall | Sledge Hammer or equivalent | It returns the next day on the table beside the broken vase |
| West Path chip | Largest | Buried just right of the West Path bridge | Shovel or equivalent | It returns the next day on the bridge’s end post |
Collecting each chip
Blackbridge Grotto chip
- Enter Blackbridge Grotto when the room is available.
- Take the smallest chip from the holder at the center of the room.
- Place it in a holder soon after. If you leave the day with it still in your inventory, it reappears in that holder.
Entrance Hall chip
- Go to the Entrance Hall and find the vase on the west side of the room. A second vase on the hall contains nothing.
- Hover over the west vase briefly to trigger the interaction, then break it with the tool listed above.
- Check the floor where the vase stood and pick up the chip.
Breaking the vase is permanent, so the chip is the only thing it gives you. Keep it safe until you place it.

West Path chip
- Walk the West Path to the bridge.
- Check the ground immediately to the right of the bridge and hover over that spot.
- Dig with the shovel or equivalent tool listed above to uncover the largest chip.
What the chips unlock
Orindian Ruins door in Blackbridge Grotto
Place all three chips in the holder in Blackbridge Grotto to open the door to Orindian Ruins. The chips stay in the holder from one day to the next, but the door remains open only while all three are inserted. Removing any one of them closes it again.
Satellite Dish in the Apple Orchard
After you have opened the sundial holder in the Apple Orchard, placing all three chips there unlocks the Satellite Dish.

#1 Best Overall
- DRAFTING YOUR JOURNEY - Upon reaching a closed door in Mt. Holly, you decide what room appears behind it and each decision shapes your path as you navigate through the manor. Every door can reveal new and exciting chambers that contain their own unique challenges and secrets. But be careful how you draft, for each day the manor’s floor plan resets and the rooms you saw today may not be the same rooms you see tomorrow.
- EVERY STEP COUNTS - Your progress each day is shaped by the rooms you select to draft and the tools you find within them. Items in the game can be used in a number of creative ways to fuel your exploration deeper into the house, allowing you to adopt unique strategies to combat the challenges that each day brings.
- A HISTORY IN THE MAKING - As the heir of Mt. Holly, you have been tasked to explore its shifting halls in search of Room 46. Yet as your journey takes you further into the mansion’s depths, you start to discover that there is more lurking under the surface than a missing room. Investigate a past woven with the threads of blackmail, political intrigue, and the mysterious disappearance of a local children’s book author.
- DAY ONE EDITION BONUSES - Pack-in bonuses include 18” x 12” fold-out poster of the magnificent Mt. Holly Manor and a download code for the official game soundtrack.
Crate Tunnel microchip door
The Crate Tunnel has its own microchip door that also takes all three chips. Any chips left in that particular holder return to the Blackbridge Grotto holder the next day.
Clue-led versus direct collection
Two routes get you to the same chips. If you want to solve the puzzle yourself, the item references in the game point toward clues. The Entrance Hall vase is tied to a clue called A New Clue, and the buried chip is tied to a chain of clues titled “Corner Cases.” Following those clues before you look up a location is the slower route, but it keeps the discovery with you. If you only want the chips, the direct steps above are the quicker path.

Source notes
The Microchip item description reads: “Looks like it might be able to be plugged in somewhere.” That line is the only in-game text about the chips and has no named speaker.
The chip locations, respawn behavior and holder persistence described here come from a community-maintained Blue Prince reference. Game patches can change room behavior, so if a chip is not where this guide describes, check the room’s current state before assuming the guide is wrong.
