The Amon Pirates are fought at the Pirates’ Coliseum in Madlantis, but the fight stays locked until you clear every Coliseum battle, including the Devil Flags-related matches. Once that sequence is finished, talk to the Coliseum attendant and choose Tournament of Captains.
Where the Pirates’ Coliseum is
The Pirates’ Coliseum is in Madlantis. SEGA’s official battle page for the game describes it as the arena for naval battles against rival crews, and that role is the Coliseum’s general purpose in the game.
Reaching the Coliseum does not open the Amon fight on its own. The encounter is gated behind the full Coliseum sequence, so the regular matches have to be cleared first.

- Clear every Pirates’ Coliseum battle.
- Include the Devil Flags-related matches, which guides call out by name as part of the required sequence.
How to start the Amon Pirates fight
- Clear all Pirates’ Coliseum battles, including the Devil Flags-related matches.
- Go to the Pirates’ Coliseum and talk to the Coliseum attendant.
- Select Tournament of Captains. The Amon Pirates challenge is the first entry in that tournament.
What the Amon Pirates challenge involves
According to specialist guides, the Amon Pirates challenge runs in two stages:
- Ship battle: the opening naval fight.
- Boarding crew battle: a crew-versus-crew fight that follows the ship battle.
A separate one-on-one match against Taiyo Amon is also available as a further Coliseum match. It is not part of the two-stage Amon Pirates challenge.

Do you need to finish substories first?
No. According to PowerPyx’s substories guide, finishing substories is not required to reach the Amon encounter through the Coliseum. Only the Coliseum sequence described above gates the fight.

SEGA’s release announcement, dated 21 February 2025, lists PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows and Steam as platforms. The guides consulted for this route do not break the Coliseum sequence down by platform, so the steps above are presented as the same for every version the announcement covers.
