You reveal them by turning on Swann’s handycam flashlight and zooming in on the rocket’s top. Retrieval uses only in-game objects: you cover a grate with cardboard, bring back a brick from the construction-site area, and aim the lit handycam while Autumn throws.
Where the keys are
In the Forgotten Playground, the rocket stands opposite the swings. The keys sit at its very top, and simply looking at the rocket is not enough to see them. Prima Games says you need the handycam’s flashlight and zoom to reveal them, and zooming on the top also triggers the scene that follows.

Retrieving the keys step by step
- In the Forgotten Playground, go to the rocket opposite the swings.
- Pull out Swann’s handycam, activate its flashlight, and zoom in on the very top of the rocket. The keys are revealed and a scene transition begins.
- After the scene, interact with the cardboard near the grate (manhole) at the rocket’s base and cover the opening. Do this before anything is knocked down. If the keys fall, the cardboard keeps them from being lost through the opening.
- Follow the route into the construction-site area, pick up the hand-sized brick, and return to the rocket.
- Keep the handycam’s light aimed at the keys while Autumn throws. Prima Games says she gets three tries before Kat climbs up to retrieve them.
The cardboard is a precaution, not a follow-up step. Covering the grate after the throw does not protect the keys; it has to be in place before the attempt.
What happens after the throws
All of the walkthroughs agree that Kat takes over after Autumn misses, but they do not describe the aftermath the same way. Prima Games’ account stops at Kat retrieving the keys. Thumb Wars confirms the location and sequence, but says the rocket falls over regardless of the outcome. Because that detail is not in Prima Games’ description, treat the physical result of the rocket as unconfirmed and expect the on-screen outcome to vary.

Later keys interactions in Chapters 6 and 7
The keys scene takes place in Chapter 6, which RedKnopka titles “The First Night.” GameSpew’s Tape 1 walkthrough confirms the rocket-top location and the cardboard step.
In Chapter 7, the walkthroughs direct you to interact with Autumn’s keys on the table. RedKnopka links this interaction to the Butterfly Effect trophy sequence. Treat these as walkthrough instructions rather than a rule that applies identically on every platform.
